      >*German newspaper Berliner Zeitung reported that Baerbock said the package could be worth around 700 billion euros ($732 billion), however, that figure was not in the Bloomberg article.*

So they didn’t announce anything officially and we don’t know for sure.

      Sorry thats fake news

I looked for that article and the Berliner Zeitung just Quoted Bloomberg having an Interview. And numbers are not from Baerbock but an Interpretation made by the Bloomberg journalist.

“But Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock rushed ahead and gave an insight into the scale. Baerbock hinted that it could be about 700 billion euros: “We will launch a large package that has never been seen on this scale before,” Baerbock said in an interview with Bloomberg on the sidelines of the Munich meeting. “Similar to the euro or the corona crisis, there is now a financial package for security in Europe. That will come in the near future.””

So this reddit post ist about a telegrafi article, that is about a Berliner Zeitung article, that is about an Bloomberg interview about what Baerbock potentially meant when talking about a package as large as during corona or euro crisis

Retool Mercedes, Porsche, Bosch, and the others. Start making tanks, drones, and other deterants before you need them.

    4. OkKnowledge2064 on

Good shit. I hope its true. Thats exactly what we need. I know a lot of people will cry about it but this investment is needed for europe to have a future

    5. Okkuuurrrr on

Even if it is 700 billion, NONE of it should go to US arms manufacturers. Keep it in Europe, SK, Japan etc.

    6. Wild-Animal-8065 on

Pull the plaster off now…invest in the big European defence companies (BAE, Rhinemettal, leonardo etc), start-up drone makers (this has worked well in Ukraine)…build new factories or re-tool the various ones operating at a loss. The Uk government has announced a big investment in the steel industry where Uk steel is regarded as the best even the US use it for their navy ships. The tempest program with Italy and Japan could be expedited to be the main 6th gen fighter for Europe while the Germans and French stop arguing and finish building their tanks and armoured vehicles together. That leaves the rest of Europe to produce ammunition of all types alongside drones and other equipment.

If we start now we can wipe the floor with Russia and show the Americans we don’t need them.
It seems that the USA wants to split Europe with Russia because they both know that we can be collectively stronger than both.

It matters little how much is more is spent on defence if the major European powers continue to refuse to deploy their armed forces, even for peace-keeping & policing cease-fires.

Trump is now a major threat to Ukraine.

He wants to turn it into a colony and make them slaves.

They need to do this, get them weapons to stop Trump, even over Putin.

He is the main threat now.

I’ve only seen this published on 2 news sites and neither is particularly reliable in my view. While I am sure things are happening behind the scenes wrt to defence spending, the 700 billion figure should be treated as conjecture, for the time being.

Title : Europe as announces 700 billion euro package
Article : .. reported that .. said the package COULD BE WORTH around 700 billion euros

    11. AncientAd6500 on

Trust me: we’ll be disappointed when we hear the real figure.

    12. MaestroGena on

I hope most of that money will be for the EU industry. Fuck USA

      >European officials are working to create a multi-billion dollar package aimed at boosting collective security in the region, in what would be the largest of its kind to date, German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock announced over the weekend.

      >Speaking to Bloomberg on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference in Germany, which took place from February 14 to 16, Baerbock said the massive defense package “has never been seen before on this scale,” the Telegraph reports.

      >News of the package comes as President Donald Trump begins negotiations with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin to end the nearly three-year war in Ukraine.

      >German newspaper Berliner Zeitung reported that Baerbock said the package could be worth around 700 billion euros ($732 billion), however, that figure was not in the Bloomberg article.

      >”Similar to the euro or the corona crisis, there is now a financial package for security in Europe. This will come in the near future,” Baerbock said. /Telegraph/

The best defense is offense, we can fight the Russians now in Ukraine, why would we want to do that on Polands soil in 5 years after spending 700 billions?
