A difficult person to argue against on this topic, before this she was pm of Estonia. Who never fell under the 2% norm, and she even increased their defence budget to far more.
My humble opinion: now is the time to make deficits to drastically increase the size of our military forces. Frigates, Fighter Planes, Air Defences, Tanks, Artillery, Logistics, Ammunition (!!!!!) both in stock and as production capability. And of course manpower.
If the EU is willing to loosen its view on budget deficits, I can imagine a more accelerated push towards 2%.
