Hat and gloves more important than jacket but yeah itd be more than fine.
Where in Finland? In The south and other coastal areas you’re more likely to need wind and waterproof outer layer, than super warm.
For physical activities that jacket doesn’t Look really comfortable either, so depends a lot on where in Finland and what you’re planning to do.
Personally I would get a wind/water proof (not just repellent) jacket that’s big enough for warm layers underneath. Then it’s easy to adjust your clothing according to whatever weather there happens to be, whether it’s +5°c and raining horizontally, or – 15c and snowing
Most Finnish ladies have this kind of a jacket nowadays so I’m pretty sure you’ll do just fine.
If it’s -20 and you intend on spending hours outside doing basically nothing, then sure it’ll be cold and you need more layers. But if you are normally walking around the city in -5, you’ll be fine.
Just use the uniqlo jacket if it’s not one of those light ones. That’s what I’ve been using for a decade here.
Probably will be fine for most of the time, but good to know that weather changes a lot.
Depending where in Finland you are, there maybe relatively warm (close to zero degrees) but wind is freezing. Or in the north may be so cold that no jacket is enough and you will need something warm under your jacket also (merino wool is the best).
Also warm mittens, warm beanie (also merino wool for me) and scarf (I use neckerchief which is also merino wool).
It will be fine. I have a similar one, and while it’s been a bit too warm in the south this year, as we haven’t had cold temperatures, it kept me warm last winter.
Just add warm layers underneath if you get cold. And a hat and mittens.
Jacket long enough to cover your butt is more important in -25 weather, which is rare, so most of the time you would be fine with a short jacket. Long jacket is in style among young people, but who knows what’s stylish next December.
You probably meant reaches hips, as waist is where your navel is and that’s very short, I don’t think that short winter jackets exist?
That should be okay. Ofcourse it also depends whether you are in Kittilä or Helsinki during december. One might have +5 and one might have -35. Finland is a large country and south/north have very different climates at times and the wather might easily vary by 30 degrees between the two. It’s impossible to predict the weather also. This year has been unusually warm and not many cold days in the south atleast.
Seems ok to me, the key is to get one with real down insulation and not some polyester padding shit that does not insulate anything. However, if you are not used to the cold at all, layering is the most important thing, the jacket will not do much alone.
Get yourself some good merino wool underlayers, a wool shirt, wool socks, warm hat, warm gloves (insulated mittens for max warmth) and some good winter shoes with a sole that has traction and you’re good to go. Decrease layering if you feel too warm and increase if too cold.
