I think it would be just perfect for the EU to ban both X and Facebook. I banned them both myself back ten years ago and my quality of life improved greatly. More people should try that self ban. It is delightful.

Any functioning democracy is going to have to deal with the corrosive effect of targeted social media. Free speech is one thing but this is weaponized disinformation and hate. Doesn’t have to be banning, but there must be some requirements for truth and some support for non-corporate and non-hate media to flourish… or even for just a minimal degree of moderation.
… though X, which is basically state media from a Russian aligned nation, should be the easiest part of that process. A fine against twitter for each pro-nazi post that is not moderated within an acceptable delay?
