“The revamp of the former wholesale market was first proposed by the council 23 years ago. Following three years of planning, the Markets Framework Plan was published in 2005.”

Dublin City Council in a nutshell.

Same old story with…St Andrew’s Street Church off Grafton Street.

€26m is a hell of a lot of money for a structure that is already in place and is not too big. That investment will be passed into the tenants who will pass it onto the public in the form of €15 sandwiches etc. in fairness, I live in Málaga and these markets are fantastic and have normal prices.

    3. Hopefully they mean it this time. *[Don’t Hold Your Breath](https://theirishaesthete.com/2024/06/03/dont-hold-your-breath/)* documented this project’s awful timeline

      This is fantastic news.

Look, no doubt 26m is a lot of money and most of what is being charged probably has its price inflated, but still good news overall.

In Melbourne there are terrific markets. Would be great if something similar can be replicated in Dublin.

Hopefully it becomes something like George’s Market in Belfast, really vibrant place full of independent local vendors.

Speaking of which, my arteries are still recovering [after a George’s Market Belfast Bap](https://youtu.be/Qsha-vzW3ps?si=xudwMywvnZfSWY3O)… fucken insane-ist thing I’ve ever eaten.
