Ciao caro popolo danese!

It is not a ticket, it is only a seat reservation.
It’s for being combined with other ticket types.
Orange is the cheapest option here.
I would consider checking out FlixBus as well for København – Padborg, although it’ll only bring you to Flensborg.
The seat reservation is what it says, a reservation for a seat NOT a ticket, so you’ll need both a ticket and a seat reservation if you want to be absolutely sure you have somewhere to sit
Seat reservation is if you have another type of ticket, this could be like “rejsekortet” or some kind of commuter card. And you want to be sure to have a seat on the train.
Seat reservation is not a ticket, and if you get on the train without one, sit down somewhere, someone may come and tell you that is their seat, and you will have to move.
Orange ticket is the cheapest option, or Orange Fri if you want refundable. However those type of ticket cans often only be bought days prior to your trip.
If you only pay for seat reservation, you will get fined for not having a ticket. Unless you get a ticket from elsewhere (rejsekort etc.)
The “Only Seat Reservation” requires you to buy an actual ticket before the departure. The option is there mostly for people with commuter cards or if you find out you want a seat reservation after you buy a ticket.
Edit: And generally the Orange ones are the cheapest. But they are limited supply so they have to be bought well in advance mostly. and they are locked to a specific departure time. A normal ticket can be used the entire day (once only though). the seat reservation is for a specific departure as well ofc.
“the cheapest way to go from Denmark all the way to padborg”
Padborg is Denmark….
As people already say seat resevation cant stand alone, but a ticket can.
Orange tickets are good to buy as much a head of time as possible. Otherwise you might run into times, where you have to buy the standard more expensive tickets.
Unless you travel in peak hour (7-9 and 15-17) and on the busy lines I usually always find a place in the train without a seat reservation. Otherwise, Denmark is small and usually it is acceptable to sit in the hallway or stand, for a few trips. Orange ticket is the way to go, especially if you can be several weeks ahead.
Note: Your orange ticket is for a fixed departure time and train, if that train is cancelled you are allowed to take the next train available. But if you miss your departure, it’s on you.
Note 2: as you unfortunately can’t purchase a “Orange + bike” combo, you have to buy each separately : Orange + a seat reservation (for a bike).
Your question has already been answered, so I just wanted to say that I always go for the Orange tickets, especially when we are 2 people going across the country and back.
Regular tickets 4 x 460 kr = 1.840 kr (+seat res)
Orange tickets 4 x 122 kr = 488 kr (+seat res)
You just have to know when to travel a few weeks in advance (some times a month in advance) because they will get sold out when you get closer to the departure date. I don’t think I have ever missed my train so being non-refundable is not an issue for me.
Have a nice trip! 🙂
