    1. Streaming most definitely: Streamz. Although the Flemish/Belgian catalogue is a big part of the offer + there are no English subtitles.

I heard about Mailfence for email, but have yet to try it.

You need to include the ‘quick’ before it disappears!

Messaging is so difficult to swap over, as you need to convince all your friends, family members and colleagues to do the same.
Social media I don’t care, as I only use Reddit and there is honestly no substitute for it.

Lots of Belgian stuff missing in the fast food and food sections. Panos, Jules Destrooper etc

Yeah, screw Proton on that list. Same deal as last century, they’ll just side with big money.

I can merely just vouch for your local stores, as well as *maybe* bol.com. McCain is actually Canadian, I see their big Lutosa plant outside my window. That’s all I can think of.

    8. Not specifically Belgian

      Social media: Nostr

      Messaging: SimpleX

      Services: Kagi (search/translate)

      Collaboration: Nextcloud

TomTom Amigo instead of Waze / Maps.
Infomaniak to replace Google services (GMail, GDrive) – In Switzerland
OnlyOffice to replace Microsoft Office suite.

Never used HERE Maps since their last major upgrade few years ago that broke everything

Does anyone know if those streaming services are any good?

Edit: just checked, nothing interesting. Most are for the northern countries and/or not available to us

social media, why is reddit not included and why is bluesky included when it’s American?

Same goes for car, Audi, BMW manufacture their cars in America, China, it should be European cars made in Europe.

For electronics, is there any phone or tv which is European and made in Europe?

For streaming, does it mean absolutely no streaming of any US originated content?

I mean for the streaming part, surely most people here pirate everything anyway, right? Or are we not allowed to admit that? (And did I just do an oopsie?)

Mondelez has Côte d’Or in its portfolio. Just to illustrate that boycotting a whole concern is a bit stupid of the production of that item is being done in our own country.
