So they absolutely can and do it with their firms but EU, somehow, can’t. Because… reasons. LOL

    2. HighDeltaVee on

Dear America : Remember “America First!”?

      Cos we do.

    3. Since when did the U.S. give a shit about industrial decarbonisation? I thought climate change was a hoax and their mantra was drill baby drill.

    4. “China and the US denounce…”

Good. Means we are doing something right.

    5. Well, given that Washington and Beijing consistently favor American and Chinese firms, respectively, this sounds like a compliment, and is the exact reason Brussels should double down.

    6. EvilFroeschken on

Hypocrisy. China heavily subsidizes its favored companies, and the US screws us over right now. We would like to trade and respect institutions, but these both don’t want a level playing field.

    7. Ice_Tower6811 on

“Yes we treat you like trash but you should still buy our stuff”

    8. SraminiElMejorBeaver on

      Oh no poor of them.

Finally we are doing like them and focusing on our own companies.

    9. dustofdeath on

They can denounce all they want, and the EU does what they want.

US banned Huawei and other Chinese companies and imposed sky high tarifs on Chinese EVs while China banned Google, Amazon and other companies in their country and fostered alternatives like Baidu, Alibaba etc. Also all EU car makers were forced to do technology transfers when making cars in China by needing to partner with a local company and they did it due to the tarifs once again. As for the US it has established a de facto monopoly on information technology from processors to GPUs, from operating systems to browsers or search engines, from video streaming services to social media all while data mining and illegaly monetizing private users information. Heck they even have monopoly on video game companies with platforms like Steam and others. Sad.

      So, what is the problem?

    11. MapleHamwich on

Hahahahaha, fuck you China and US. Axis of evil partners.

    12. NoxAstrumis1 on

What the fuck do they expect people to do when threatened with tariffs? They can’t really be this stupid.

    13. morbihann on

You cant do business in China if the company isnt partly owned by the Chinese.

So, how about you both go fuck each other ?

#Brussels’ ‘Buy European’ Push Sparks US and China Backlash

A European Commission plan to prioritise EU companies in public contracts has drawn sharp criticism from Chinese and American industry groups, who warn it could fuel trade tensions and undermine efforts to decarbonise the economy. The proposal, part of the EU’s new Clean Industrial Deal, aims to favour European firms in key sectors under a revised Public Procurement Framework.

China’s Chamber of Commerce to the EU has called the move discriminatory and potentially in breach of World Trade Organization rules, arguing it could unfairly disadvantage Chinese businesses in industries where they play a dominant role. Meanwhile, the American Chamber of Commerce to the EU expressed concern that shutting out trusted international partners could slow industrial decarbonisation and increase costs.

While some experts suggest the EU may have a stronger legal case against Chinese firms—since China is not a party to the WTO’s procurement agreement—the same approach applied to US firms could cause friction with Washington. The debate comes amid ongoing tensions over trade policies, with Brussels recently accusing China of favouring its own suppliers in sectors such as medical devices.

This push to strengthen domestic industry goes beyond public procurement. The EU is also preparing a new Industrial Decarbonisation Accelerator Act, which will further promote “made-in-Europe” criteria to boost demand for green technologies produced within the bloc. The full details of this legislation are expected later this year, but its message is clear: Brussels is determined to put European firms first, even if that means ruffling feathers abroad.

Americans: “Restricting access for trusted partners would slow down industrial decarbonisation, increase costs and reduce the efficiency of the clean transition.”

      Also Americans: “DRILL, BABY, DRILL!”

    16. Hikuro93 on

To all Americans laughing and snickering at Europeans and Canadians in the last few weeks because “you need us” and “you’re nothing without us” or “let’s see how you do without allies like us”.

Not so funny now, is it?. Cry more. Perhaps you should be more “self-reliant”.

    17. GamerGuyAlly on

Honestly, im sure Trump is a Putin/Xi plant, but they must be fuming with him.

They’ve gone so fucking hard, that they’ve actually ruined the rights push in the EU and unified it against them all.

Get in the bin, im buying local, fuck your megacorp bullshit thats infested our world for too long.

    18. UNSKIALz on

Europe can’t be the only one playing by the rules, unfortunately. We have to make some tough calls

    19. WorldlyBuy1591 on

Oh no. Not denounce???? Who writes or says stuff like this anymore?

    20. BrainEatingAmoeba01 on

Chinese and American firms can eat the corn kernels from my stink log.

    21. G14DMFURL0L1Y401TR4P on

The EU was the last one to do it after those two lmao it’s their fault that they’re destroying international cooperation and freedom

    22. Negative-Box9890 on

Awwwww……Is poor little whiny Trumpy baby all butt hurt.

    23. zekoslav90 on

I don’t understand what they’re complaining about. European economy is insignificant isn’t it? /s

    24. The EU has always favored EU firms, as they should, this is more stating the obvious for a specific application. The world is de-globalizing and protectionism is on the rise.

    25. Grizzboss on

If it is now to be an insular world, of the strong doing as they please, it was made so by their own countries actions. Europe is simply adapting. I find it hard to believe anyone in Europe will care much for their denouncements.

    26. Adorable_Chicken_258 on

As an American, please do not stop. Fuck elon and trump, I moved here when i was 3 and lived here for 25+ years but I am so fucking tired and disgusted by our government. Feels like im living in the twilight zone everyday

    27. LoveMascMen on

And do we care about what USA, Russia and China think?

      No.

We will continue being the best and most free people on the planet.

    28. Steelmann14 on

So Trump runs on his platform of Make America Great Again. Putting huge Tariffs on,telling everyone who will listen that he doesn’t need their products, they can make it in the States. Then when other countries do the same,he calls it unfair practices. What a hypocrite.

    29. Grouchy_Row_7983 on

Threatening is only allowed from Trump. Others should just cower and cave.

    30. ChuckThisNorris on

I’m so tired of the hipocrisy and the daily european trashing that I decided to include in my list of groceries one product from every european country.

    31. BigMasterpiece12 on

So Trump wants to tariff EU by 25%, and is pushing “America First”, but gets angry when the EU is favouring their own firms over them because of it? Wtf did Trump expect? If he’s this stupid, then how did he even manage to climb up the political ladder in the first place? Well, I guess money’s probably the answer, but still.

    32. feelings_arent_facts on

Lol. China literally bars from international companies from operating there lest they steal all their IP first.
