Here’s the response. Thank you president, you are a great lad. No matter the criticism. We are a tiny country and these guys be crazy. Maybe acknowledges there is a block of Irish American voters might be a positive thing but, let’s be clear, these be crazy. Also, who is anyone to lecture anyone about anything, not sure that is diplomacy. They be crazy!
I am anti-Trump, pro-Ukraine, and pro-Palestine. Under no circumstances should he criticise Trump on his visit. To do so would not only undermine our own relationship with the US and jeopardise our economy, but it would further damage the relationship between the US, the EU, and Ukraine. Even Zelenskyy is trying to salvage what he can of the relationship with the US and Ukraine by making it about the bond between the US people and the people of Ukraine. Trump is trying to completely destroy all of the international relationships and goodwill the US has, and if the Taoiseach criticises him for doing so, he’ll only help him achieve his goals. Nod, smile, butter him up, extract whatever guarantees you can from him, and go home. Weakening ourselves will not help Ukraine or anyone else.
This gonna get me down voted, but: Martin should be pleasant and friendly.Focus only on irish matters unless absolutely drawn into it.Trump is spiteful and easily butt hurt, so only correct him if he starts spewing shite while you’re standing next to him.
That’s probably for the best. It’s a difficult enough diplomatic challenge without having a strong democratic opinion behind it.
He shouldn’t go to America. He should go to Ukraine, visit Kyiv instead.
