      I fucking hope people in charge are smart enough to create a shared procurement strategy that won’t make European companies constantly compete against one another. I know it sounds like a pipe dream but we need merger that keep existing factories and people in place and work together.

      Pool our resources together, not just material but also manpower and expertise. Have our companies work together to choose and improve the best we have to offer instead of trying to win tenders by lowering prices and offering “incentives” to countries/people in charge.

      We don’t need 10 different IFVs, 3 different tanks, 4 different AD systems etc. That is only going to create needless competition and whichever one isn’t chosen is going to be in trouble. Or worse, everyone is going to keep choosing different things and that’s going to create a logistical nightmare in a real war.

      It’s still all talk. You need to act NOW, or Europe will be left not just alone with Russia, but with a captured Ukrainian population and drone manufacturing. About a million experienced Russians and Ukrainians who have been through real modern warfare with drones. And all of this will turn against Europe. Something has to be done NOW. With Hungary, with Slovakia, with the hesitancy of the leaders. Three years have already passed. THREE YEARS!

      The most annoying thing is the talk like “We have to coordinate [X] with the US”. Hey guys, please learn to ACT for yourselves without looking to the US! Otherwise you will remain a bargaining chip of the superpowers.

      Russia is laughing. Historically speaking, European rearmament has lead to more inter European conflict (and I’m not considering Russia to be European in this context).

      Might be years too late but glad it’s happening. I don’t see how the Ukraine war ends without EU boots on the ground. Zelensky refuses to compromise and Putin won’t leave empty handed. Without the US the war will continue on for years at the expense of thousands more lives and hundreds of billions more spent.

      Still a win-win for Trump. If they don’t raise their budget or their NATO contribution, he blames them. Now even if it’s indirect and not compliance, I can hear it coming:” SEE, SEE? 10 YEARS I TELL THEM THEY HAVE TO RAISE THEIR BUDGET BECAUSE WE SPEND TOO MUCH FOR THEIR PROTECTION! SEE HOW THEY OBEY?”
