>Lindt produces 95% of the chocolates it sells in the United States at its five factories in the country, which also supply Canada and could be affected by the U.S. tariffs.
So already production is moving *out* of the US to Europe, taking jobs and revenue with it.
Brilliant tariff strategy there, Trump. Well done you.

Trump (and Americans) have convinced themselves theres something uniquely special to them, or the US.
Neither of these things are true.

This is the exact same thing that happened with China during his first term: this dumbfuck has no idea what he’s doing.
The youtuber Kraut did an amazing video on his first term detailing the Chinese just drove around his tariffs by building 95% of their products at home and moving the last 5% abroad, getting the Made in X stamp: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhMAt3BluAU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hhMAt3BluAU)

I do hope that the entities Canada, China, Europe, and Mexico plan their tariffs together for minimal pain on themselves and maximal pain on the US.
The other I read that US plans tariffs on Canadian lumber and I also read that China will introduce tariffs on US lumber.

As a side effect, Canadians will now get much better chocolate. Lindt produces different (and inferior) stuff for the North American market. Many US citizens (and Canadians) don’t even realize they’re used to getting the lower quality stuff when it comes to many types of food, but chocolate is a prime example.

There is still a motive to avoid the company if it is an American owned company. If it isn’t, great! If so, tho, fuck em.

I absolutely despise Lindt chocolate. There are many unknown brands in Switzerland that are so much better.
But this is a welcome new. Hopefully, it will motivate other companies to get the fuck out of there too.

I’ll take European chocolate over American ones any day. From a Canadian
Nice, my sweet cabinet always has at least a couple of bars of Lindt. Been to a few of their factories and visited many shops as well, they’re by far my favorite chocolatier in Europe. This just makes me develop even more brand loyalty towards them.
