They should move away from jets with US components. Go French instead. More expensive for what you get byt they’ll be much more reliable partners. Probably worth the extra cost to not have the Trump bar them from getting parts for the engines on Gripen for example

Saab should look for alternative EU parts for the US ones

Would be a great test for the next battle against Russia and the US next year.

The US doesn’t want any other jets to outshine theirs. It’s all a marketing exercise.

Unite Europe! Build an arrmy, help Ukraine defeat ruzzia for good and leave the fascist shithole country of the USA behind forever.

Afaik the main problem really is the availability of pilots, even moreso pilots who speak English.

ITAR still applies with the Grippen, unless it ditches its engine.

Can’t the US just block those? What’s the point?

And why the hell is Sweden holding back? If Ukraine wants it – let’s do it

The Dassault and Burst production lines are complete for 10 years. The Gripen is an incredibly underrated aircraft for export. Its only weak point is its autonomy because of its small size. It was designed for an invasion of countries bordering Russia. So its size in these conditions can be an advantage. It can fire all Western weapons including the meteor missile.

Canada should axe the F35 programs and buy these. The more I read about them, the more impressed I am.

I hope Saab are working on upgrading to a non US supplied engine package.

An ITAR-free Gripen would be nice. EJ230 and E88-3/4 should be relatively similar to the F414 in performance and if the Rafale can go ITAR-free I’m sure the Gripen can too, and such a push might be whats needed to get those engines into production.

We all know trump would probably block Gripen transfers to Ukraine, as the US did recently with the Colombia Gripen sale.

Just send them even if they do have an American motor. Say “we are sorry, we thought we could send them but now we see that Trump didn’t want that, and he is such an amazing guy, no one in the whole universe is better than him, he is just so amazing, so we are so sorry we sent so many Gripen” afterwards.

Fck off it’s our fighters, we do whatever we want with them.

    15. ITAR, gripens engine is a locally produced american engine. US used their ITAR Veto to block Gripen for Ukraine and sales.

We really need to get rid of the american engine. There are better European alternatives.

If Zelenskyy would suck it up and try not to vomit while praising the current US leader he would probably send nukes if the ass kissing was great enough. Just look at JD. He was the number 1 Trump hater just a few years ago. A little oral copulation and he is now daddy’s bottom bitch.

Can Canada get a few of those… we have an F-35 contract to cancel and will need to replace those.
