Why would they need EU tho? They are pretty solid country economy wise, i think in their case it would not benifit them much.

Trump is really boosting the yes side, the fucking idiot. Wouldn’t be surprised if we join in a few years.

I hope we stay far out of the EU tbh. We are doing better in our own.

I think you should join so we can all share the same protection and burdens.
      Same as UK.

Reminder: Norway is not in the EU but it is in European Economic Area, Schengen Area, Council of Europe and NATO (and the European Political Community, which I think has no practical effect).

I don’t think much would change if Norway joined the EU (customs union perhaps?), but it would be nice to finally get rid of the EU/EEA split, cause it’s just confusing people 😉

I wish they wouldn’t represent “oppose” with the Norwegian flag. They’re unconsciously promoting the idea that the “patriotic” option is to be anti-European, which is absolutely not true. Don’t let anti-Europeans own patriotism without even challanging it! I lived through the exact same thing in the UK 10 years ago.

Totally understandable. Greetings from France, fellow Norwegian friend! 🇫🇷 🇳🇴

They are already a part of the EEA, EFTA and Schengen and already pay membership fees … The only reason why they are not joining the EU proper is that they would have to adapt EU regulations for fishing and Oil … It wouldn’t change much if they decided to join anyways, because they are already a part of the EU without being a member …

I’ve always been pro EU, so the current situation doesn’t change me much. I do hope that Norway will contribute and receive the same military aid as if we were a member.

You do you fellow Norwegians !

If one day you want to join, let us know, we will welcome you with a smile !

      Have a nice day.

Brit here, i’m really hoping we go from our current hard Brexit to something similar to Norway’s current deal.

Norwegians will decide and, they have already decided to join the single market. If they don’t want to join (I am convinced eventually the young generation who grew up with EU next to them will) threre should be no pressure. Let’s try to avoid “in us or against us” mindset like imperialists.

I think the support would go further up if we really started to discuss it. In my opinion its mainly driven by ignorance, negative click bait news articles, together with politician taking the populist approach when confronted with something by blaming problems on foreigners and foreign powers. The EU has been a convenient target.

well they are in Schengen and EEA, it’s their decision if they want take finish step to EU, have a good day guys

Does anyone know if the decline in the value of the Krone over the past couple of years is a contributing factor? Are the pro-EU camp in Norway pushing for adoption of the Euro as well, or would they be hoping for an exemption?

    16. Professor_Chaos69420 on

They wont join bcs they wont get anything tradewise from joining but on the other hand they will have to pay a lot bcs of how good their economy is. Norway not wanting to be in the EU is understandable, they achieved peak country management, EU would only slow them down.

I dislike how the graphic presents this as a EU versus Norway vote.
EU membership should (and I believe does) offer mutual benefits.

Though the current arrangement seems to work great for Norway. Keep your own fishing policies, agricultural independence, and your sovereign wealth fund safe!

    18. TherapinStormblessed on

I mean, the “oppose” camp lost 23 point in 10 years, so Norwentry 2030/35?

I would love if Norway joined us in the EU. That would be absolutely amazing.

They would be welcomed with open arms.

Come on Norway, ***dew it****.* Can’t have an united Europe without the norwegians.

Now it’s the time to make a brave step. Finland and Sweden gave up on their century old neutrality to streinghten Europe against russians. Only united we will win against China, Russia and now the not-so-friendly USA.

You’re basically in by being in EEA, have to follow all the rules but have no power to change policies.

Was hard to see the “2015” indication. So the information is that the non EU joiners are below majority now. Is this due to Ukraine or other factors ?

    22. That is definitely progress since 2015, give it 4-5 years and we will see 60% for EU.

    23. Patralgan on

Now would probably be the last moment to strengthen European unity as much as possible.
