I’ll vote with my wallet and go spend my money elsewhere then.
The UK is overrated as a travel destination. London is a crapshoot tourist trap that revolves around Harry Potter, the royal family, and red telephone boxes. For the rest, you’ll find mostly large global stores, and the independent are all expensive.
If you want Scottish green landscapes, you’re better off in Ireland or Galicia in northern Spain.
You mention “will this hellscape that is Brexit never end?”
In won’t considering that Brexit has “happened” and the UK is free to make decisions as they wish.
It’s no longer Brexit, it’s now the UK treating EU countries as they treat other non-EU countries because they’re no longer bound by any treaties or unions from the EU.
Without agreeing or disagreeing with Brexit, why should Belgium and other EU countries be exempt from these new conditions considering other non-EU countries have to comply with them?
The EU itself does the same to non-EU countries.
Good to know, thanks for the info! We were planning to go this year, I had no idea about the ETA. Stupid Brexit…
To be fair they douane have been at the gare du midi have since Brexit, it just looks like they’re going to up their checks. in light of what’s happening in the world I marvel at petty rules
The tax limit on goods has been the case for several years, since the end of the withdrawal period on 31st December 2020.
A further thing that isn’t mentioned is that above a certain value (higher than mentioned here), you’ll need to do full customs import paperwork, which you really don’t want to have to.
