**After several weeks of silence, or even enthusiasm, regarding the actions of the new US president, Le Pen condemned the ‘brutality’ of the freezing of US aid to Ukraine.**

Far-right leader Marine Le Pen has long tolerated, without a word, the provocations of US president Donald Trump, his [insults of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky](https://www.lemonde.fr/en/international/article/2025/03/01/ukraine-s-fate-more-precarious-than-ever-after-trump-s-dramatic-clash-with-zelensky_6738700_4.html) and the political interference of those close to him in European elections. For the first time, on Tuesday, March 4, she twice disavowed the Trump administration, after her political rivals insisted on her de facto complicity with the US president, echoing her past complicity with Vladimir Putin.

In [declarations to *Le Figaro*](https://www.lefigaro.fr/politique/marine-le-pen-condamne-la-brutalite-de-la-decision-des-etats-unis-de-suspendre-l-aide-a-l-ukraine-20250304) newspaper on Tuesday, she condemned the “brutality” of the withdrawal of US aid to Ukraine, refraining however from judging the substance of the decision. “Nobody can force the US to maintain its support if this country no longer wants to,” said the aspiring candidate for a fourth presidential election. “But it is highly critical not to give Ukraine a reasonable period of time to figure something out.”

She also distanced herself from the US vice president, JD Vance, after [he mocked](https://www.lemonde.fr/en/international/article/2025/03/04/vance-denies-having-criticized-french-and-british-armies_6738801_4.html) the hypothetical Franco-British security plan for Ukraine – “20,000 troops from some random country that hasn’t fought a war in 30 or 40 years.”

“No patriot would allow someone to call our country ‘random’ or permit the noble memory of the 600 soldiers who died for France and our thousands of wounded since the end of the Algerian War to be disrespected,” Le Pen [wrote on X](https://x.com/MLP_officiel/status/1896989963226378667), four hours after a heated intervention on the subject by Armed Forces Minister Sébastien Lecornu at the French Assemblée Nationale.

Spineless politician, she flip-flops her politican alignment and opinions all the time, and somehow she is still less despicable than Macron. Why is French politics so bad?

    3. jjpamsterdam on

The issue with nationalists is that each one of them tends to put their country first (except the American version, which seems to put Russia first and America somewhere else). I really hope that the open friendship with Putin and Trump will ultimately kill Le Pen’s prospect of becoming president.

Lol. There is crazy. And then there is batshit crazy..

    5. Whatever anyone can say about her, I can’t help to think I can’t blame her. Like I respect every politic that is not bowing down to Trump.

“But it is highly critical not to give Ukraine a reasonable period of time to figure something out.” Doesnt sound very distant to me.

      Similar to Farage and others.

These people want to survive politically to grift another day and be appealing to their paymaster in the Kremlin once the orange one crashes and burns.

She is totally 100% Russian financed and controlled.

She is in a huge state of disarray because her supporters want to hear her love for Russia and hatred for the US (and anti Muslim positions).

But Krasnov pivoted so fast, she hasn’t received her new narrative from the Kremlin yet and she tries to buy some time…

I heard her mumbling some new points akin France should become like a nuclear Switzerland, a neutral place in Europe that should act to bring peace to all.

So I bet Putin doesn’t dare to let her go full Trump, mere neutrality will be enough. Her base is really alike Trump’s, just much more dependent on state benefits (she’s most certainly push that investing in defense will reduce their benefits).

    10. Spiritual_Coast6894 on

Probably didn’t expect MIGA twats would attack Europe so harshly.

    11. Fit-Courage-8170 on

Fuck the far right all across Europe. Symptoms of the same sickness

    12. FelizIntrovertido on

Macron proposal for nuclear deterrence means that if this woman wins the elections in France, she will have the last word for all Europe.

Do you agree with that? I was downvoted for saying no.

    13. I swear to God, Trump accidentally killing off the European (and possibly Canadian) far-right would be the funniest outcome of this shitty mess

Is America First an American strategy or a Russian one? We all heard it and thought Tramp meant prioritising domestic politics. But given the imminence of America’s political and economic collapse under his leadership. Is America First actually the top of a Russian priority list? As in Destabilise America First, then…

Reminds me of all the talk about turning Blue states Red. Are we certain he was discussing Republicans and Democrats? Or is he actually speaking in terms of Red Soviet and Blue NATO states?

Balls in your court Le Pen. Do you actually want to live in a world of red states? Do you want to be the Europe Second that comes after the America First geopolitical attack from the Soviets and Communists?

My bet is you don’t. You just wanted to LARP while your liberty was protected by people who know the consequences of your rhetoric.

I guess if Trump kills the popularity of the alt-right then I support all he says and does.

    16. Haxemply on

Of course she does. She is a Russian asset, not an American one.

PFFFFFFFHHAHAAHHAA- Yeah totally. Lets just pretend shes not lying out her ass here. Just like she totally isnt a Putin puppet either guys, she like, totally swears!

Traitor to the fucking continent is what she is. Same with the rest of her ilk.

Nationalists who do nothing but import yankoid culture war bullshit, and pretend hating melanin counts for civic values, is psycotic. Same with them wanting to rip up every green energy plant, and just deepthroat Putins oil pipes…

Fuck them. They arent valid opinions. We cant pretend they are that anymore.

Wasn’t she also cozy with Putin? Can’t catch a break hahaa

    22. hypercomms2001 on

Good career move, because in a war, she will wind up in an internment camp. Now the best thing she can do, is shut the fuck up!

    23. Tricky-Union4827 on

Please no one forget that she is and has been funded by Russian banks.

    24. QuoteIcy7910 on

I’m waiting for Putin to ask her to give back the money he gave her and maybe release some docs on her 😝

    25. After timidly distancing herself from Putin due to the war and timidly distancing herself from Frexit after the failure of Brexit.
She is the textbook example of dumbfounded populism.

Even the far right Europeans don’t like Trump!! 😂 this is hilarious!

    27. Rohannevercalled on

My God I’m here agreeing with Le Pen! What dark timeline have we been thrown in?? Don’t trust she will keep this up though.

    28. edparadox on

To be fair, despite everything that happened since many years, both extreme parties in France have close ties with the current Russian government and oligarchs.

Caution is advised to not get backstabbed.

    29. French far right don’t want to be associated with American Far Right?
      Now that’s something.

    30. The far right don’t stand for anything, they are just populists. They will say whatever they think will get them easy votes. That usually means being anti-immigrant, anti-trans, anti-EU and so on. Once they feel it is totally unpopular to be pro russia or pro trump they will change their tune. Their only goal is to get into power and then they can just do whatever they want. So even far right parties that get paid by russia will change to being anti-russian if it means they will get easy votes and get closer to power.

Don’t trust them whatever they say.

    31. TheLightDances on

Don’t trust her. She is in Putin’s pocket, just as Trump is.

And in case she is serious: Trump’s whole thing has been “America first”. Did it not occur to her and other European far-right people that “America first” to them means “Our country after America”?

I guess they thought that “America first” means something like “White people first”, but in reality it means more like “Billionaires first, American white people first, europoors can go eat shit”. Or perhaps even more accurately, “Trump’s ego first”.

    32. We all know she’s made of the same clothe as Orban, Farage and Trump. She must not gain power.

    33. I find this all kind of cosmically funny. It’s like when you’re playing with someone. You find them attractive, they find you attractive, and you can kinda tell immediately. You exchange all these funny looks and glances, some winks, engage in light conversation and some playful flirting. This goes on for a while and it’s enjoyable. You start hanging out more and more, make some appearances together, have dinner and drinks. It creates a fantasy and it keeps going and it feels good for everyone. You might be aligned ideologically or simply conveniently for a while, but you’re not exactly dating or official.

Right until someone finally lays their dick out on the table and asks you what you’re going to do about it. You awake abruptly from the fantasy and immediately realize you want NOTHING to do with where this is going. The playful fantasizing, which was much more fun, is now gone and shit just got real and you realize it does NOT feel good. You start backtracking and retreating and reiterate that this isn’t you and this isn’t who you are.

That’s kinda what this all is starting to feel like. Good. Let it continue. Let them poorly defend themselves in the face of what Trump is and what he’s doing to NATO and our alliances. I want to watch these people SQUIRM.

    35. upfromashes on

Yes, Europe. They all want the same things. But the US campaign against education, the lifting of controls over false and biased speech, and the rejection of controls over private money allowed in a campaign election system that *requires* private money have allowed this nakedly dumb and corrupt criminal *back* into power here in the US.

Behold the smoking crater of a cautionary tale trump is quickly making of the US and consider very carefully how much you would like to emulate the disaster here.
