A lot of this specialised equipment comes from Israel because they are a leader in this technology field….I kinda think it’s a necessary evil
Why cut your nose off to spite your face?
Opposition parties should suggest an alternative techonology solution that does the same job.
They’re not going to stop using cellebrite 😂
Much of our water treatment systems would crash if we were forced to stop using Israeli technology in that too.
Essential things where no alternatives of equal or greater utility shouldn’t be subject to boycotts, it’s common sense.
Drew is the commissioner not a chief, and unless there’s something better than cellebrite they’re not going to stop using it. So many people literally record themselves committing crimes these days it’s ridiculous and then others tell people about what they’ve done so it’s on their phones and people have CP on their phones too. Cellebrite is unreal
As he should be. Ireland’s national security is already compromised enough without making it even worse in the name of a pointless boycott
Just stop paying for it … if it’s so important for him he’ll find the funds for it somewhere. Just don’t put public monies in it.
I recently listened to an interesting podcast episode from In The News about them using this software recently for the murder of Anna Mooney. It’s worth a listen.

Use our ‘defense’ spending to replace it – and make it a mandatory law that it can’t be sold-on – and that the software developers must be informed of the flaw after 6 months – otherwise the government is investing in making all of our devices less secure.
The software flaws that Cellebrite exploit aren’t _made_ by the Israeli’s – they are just sitting there waiting to be found in the software – _anyone_ can find them, they just need to put the resources into doing so.
Everyday here there’s an article about some effort to boycott some Israeli thing. We’re coming across as pretty pathetic
Your phone could literally blow up
..
Good to see at least one grown up in the room
I think Cellbrite was bought by a Japanese company
