The way is to equip the f16s with non American versions. Evidently nato countries will do the same if usa keeps this foolish act of betrayal.

When Ukraine wins this war it will have put two superpowers to shame. Both having done so under their unforced error.

I wonder what will happen to all those shiny new F-35’s when we have to face muscovy again.

The united states.. killing its reputation and arms industry.. one despicable act at a time

    4. No matter what Trump says, his stance is clear. No doubts left.

Meanwhile, crickets on Putin’s statement about a ceasefire/concessions.

nobody is going to buy russian military hardware because it does not work at all

nobody is going to buy us military hardware because is does not work when you need it

This means that all the European countries will not buy US manufactered defense material anymore; really great for the US defence industry, on top of that Trump is going to cut YS defense budget by 8%. Shares will collapse. Europe will also stop buying those shitty Boeing commercial planes. More shares collapsing. Well done Mr. Predident, or was it Bidens fault

The F-16 is the best aircraft on paper if all conditions are perfect. Unfortunately, these conditions are rarely met in war. The Saab Gripen 39-E performs equally well in combat and requires much less resources to maintain. When the F-16 needs a total of 12 people to maintain, the Gripen only needs 3 people. In addition, all functions are rarely used at the same time, barely enough for the pilots to know all functions. Which in my opinion makes the Saab Gripen 39E a cheaper and more geopolitical alternative due to America’s current position in European security

It’s time for Ukraine to do some serious hacking. This tech needs to be opened up and made Ukrainian…..

Trumps objective is to weaken the US. One of the best way to do this is make sure European nations no longer by US weapons and by that making development of new weapons to keep ahead of China and Russia much more expensive. He is doing an excellent job

      Repeat after me:

I hereby solemnly swear, that to the best of my ability, I will not buy American products or services, for as long as I shall live.

We need this to go viral. We need American businesses to see this. They need to understand that they’ve been scammed into electing a Russian asset, who has set up a mafia state in America.

I really hope our defence acquisition teams over here take note of this.

Maybe it’s better to have a functional 4.5 than a 5 after all.
      a) The 5 may or may not work when you need it to, depending on how bruised the ego of the current US President is, and
      b) against the lifetime cost + the add-on extortion the 4.5 might start looking VERY competitive …

So Theo Francken, please consider all options before just ordering more F-35s. Also: can we not cancel our current order (in part)? Delivery is quite overdue anyway, so …

Because what we’re seeing right now is that for the current US administration a “business” extortion on the victim takes precedence over a rules based order. Principles, values, morals, commitments, … all out the window. You might be an ally, but first we need to see $$$s, before we even consider lifting a hand. Doubling down on that last, the current US administration even goes as far as: we’ll switch off everything you have, so the aggressor “can do what anybody would do”.

With friends like these, who …

But hey, it’s not like the US ever pinky-swore anything to Ukraine, right?

Trump is an out and out russian collaborator at this point.
      What can be done?
He truly seems to be reveling in the thought of Ukrainian deaths.
Not only one side can stop fighting!

      God bless Ukraine

This is stupid and petty on the part of the White House, but…

The F-16 was chosen in large part precisely because it is the equivalent of a Honda Sedan in the sense that it is common everywhere — numerous countries friendly to Ukraine have parts and people able to service them.

Compare that with many aircraft the US produces which either few/no friends have, or that may be *flown* by non-American crews but maintenance is done by US forces on an allied base.

This was intentionally considered back when the plans were first put together back in the early days.

So much winning. Putin loves the wins being delivered by Krasnov.

    19. vanalden on

Trump has chosen to emulate Putin’s mafia state, without the subterfuge. He’s dumping America’s friends and allies, because their principles and law abiding cultures are an impediment to him establishing a patrimonial oligarchy. America is becoming Russia MkII, on steroids. Bigger, meaner and far more dangerous and damaging.

    20. Brother191 on

Thats the reason other countries shouldn’t buy American Equipment anymore. He Swiss just cancel the contrct for buying such fighter

    21. oGGy8855 on

We from Sweden want to provide JAS gripen… but first we was blocked because F16 was introduced… and now because the engine is from US weapon manufacurer..

Gripen would be the best option for ukraine… its built for just this type of warfare and was always designed to counter russian capabilities.

Only downside is that there wasnt made many of them to donate…

But hey, production can be scaled up.

If there is ever a moment for the UK to progress with the 6th gen Tempest it’s now. We can’t rely on the US and the F35.

Should also look at a Trident replacement too

Wtf who would the buy weapons from US?
Fuck that. They can just brick ur planes, tanks …
