Maybe China wants a minerals deal instead. I believe that they actually have the ability to stop Putin. Strangle all exports of electronics and drone parts to Russia. In addition to a minerals deal, they would acquire better relations with Europe and relations between Europe and the US even worse than they are now. Talks may be going on already now.
Btw, another thing that I thought of today is that once the US removes sanctions on Russia, then let us (Europe) remove sanctions on Iran. I believe that they are more of American than European interests (we were allies once upon a time).

Not really. Trump just doesn’t want to restart aid and intel to Ukraine because he’s a fucking russia’s puppet.
He will raise the bar over and over again and will demand more and more so that it can’t be acceptable for Ukraine, adding humiliation and insults to Zelensky. If Zelensky doesn’t agree, he will blame him and say he doesn’t want peace, if Zelensky agrees, he will look for another excuse or will add more demands unilaterally so he won’t fulfill his part anyway.
And since I don’t think Zelensky is dumb (all the contrary), I think he’s playing his game too, just trying to buy some time for Europe, Canada and others (AUS, NZ, SK…?) to get their shit togheter and move their asses to replace, as much as possible, the US aid and intel.
I think this should be clear to anyone at this point.

Why sign the minerals deal then if the resumption of aid isn’t even guaranteed? This fascist president is extorting, blackmailing and bullying Ukraine as much as he possibly can. His demands will never cease, not even with the resignation of Zelensky. Europe must help Ukraine stand up to this evil.

Exactly what I said when this started. Trump knows Putin will not negotiate, so instead he’s trying to force Ukraine to give up, so trump can claim he ended the war while also giving himself a mineral deal.
