Le forze armate ucraine hanno iniziato a testare il passaggio a Eutelsat Konnect Vhts One Web. Accelerare fino a 200 mbps ping 60 ms. La transizione completa potrebbe richiedere solo un mese. Starlink può quindi essere disimperato.

“The complete transition could take as little as a month.”

I wonder who writes this stuff

Problem is, Eutelsat doesn’t have the coverage nor redundancy, right?

I mean, how many low orbit sats do they have and what security features are onboard?

I want UKR to stop relying on Starlink too, but let’s get real. This will help but not fully replace Starlink.

Fortunately, Musk will not cut Starlink for Ukraine, yet, because it would ruin his SpaceX stocks and make most customers terminate their contracts due to fear of Musk’s unstable whims, just like what Mexico did after Musk falsely accused Carlos Slim of working with the cartel.

    3. Tesla sales down, SpaceX blows up, Starlink will be replaced.

      Are you having fun Elon?

Let’s hope it wont be necessary, but be prepared for the eventuality.

Deals and alliances have proven to be unreliable – contingencies must be ready

I used to instagib noobs in Unreal Tournament on my 56k modem back in 1999 with that sort of latency. 60ms won’t be a problem for dealing with Ivan. DOMINATION!

Eutelsat OneWeb supposedly has a crash order to supply 40,000 terminals.

No way that gets done in one month. 6 months is more realistic

This is excellent news. Starlink is tainted by US betrayal along with all their overpriced weapons.

But but but king Elon said starlink cannot be replaced 🧐

    9. Just wait for starlink satellites to collide with eutelsat’s. “Abnormal satellite realignment issues” incoming.

Ha ha I told you so: Europe may sucks at producing large amounts of weaponry (compared to the USA), **but** on space matters, we are pretty good if not a world leader colossus. France has pushed Europe space application programs since the 1960’s, and now it pays handily. Ariane 6 may suffer compared to SpaceX but on the satellite front, Europe has no lesson to learn from anybody: Spot, Eutelsat, Inmarsat (remember MH370 pings ?) SPOT, Galileo, Meteosat, countless others.

Eutelsat salvaging of OneWeb from Greg Wyler was a pretty good bargain, when you think about it. It provided Europe with a Starlink-like constellation without starting from scratch (this is Iris2, in passing).

Greg Wyler in 2007 was the pioneer of broadand Internet satellite constellations: a few years before Musk. Unfortunately for Wyler he did not had Musk deep pockets and also rockets to launch its constellation. So OneWeb history has been a troubled one… until Eutelsat jumped on it to get a Starlink competitor quickly and on a silver plate. A very smart move !

    11. Why would you announce this.. just do the transfer and then tell the world after.. musk et al are petty enough to cut it immediately

    12. NickVanDoom on

but there is no substitute said musk 🤭
let’s hope this is working out and a scalable solution

As an ardent capitalist I’m sure Elon will be 100% supportive of free-market competition… /s

      😂

If this is true, it is very good news. More generally, with how temperamental the U.S.A is being, I would think most governments and businesses should factor that in. No need to be held hostage by the Americans.

It’s pretty sad, as for years I rather enjoyed the progress SpaceX was making, and thought starlink was quite an achievement. Elon was a bit eccentric but, atleast his projects had a real positive impact in fields I was interested in.

Now I want nothing more than for them to fail as Elon’s tyranny has completely put me off anything to do with him. Not that the signs weren’t there, but 100’s of lives weren’t on the line when having his rocket pissing contests with Bezos.

Fuck yeah, this is amazing news.

And to think, once they’re free from the fucking loser basement-dwelling Muskrat in a costume, Ukraine’s (and hopefully other sane countries) technology will only get better as they advance their own systems.

Rubeo asking for Poland to say thankyou for starlink , the same starlink they pay for. The US is just beyond cretinous at this point

    18. 4ma2inger on

Thank god, hopefully Xitler will shut the fuck up now about how important he is to the whole world and how we all should be thankful to him.

    19. FireFireoldman on

The sooner the better, Musk could be sharing data with Russia and no one can check on him now compared to before the election

    20. Flashy_Shock1896 on

All those volunteer-bought, crowdfunded, starlinks (that government couldn’t supply itself) will go to waste 🙁 . God damn it.
