Devo trovare qualcuno da questo elenco completamente arbitrario di posti di lavoro per assistere alla domanda di passaporto di mio figlio. Come vola qualcosa di simile al giorno e all’età? Sono più affidabili delle persone con altri lavori?

This is the list from passport applications being done abroad right?

From what I can seen nearly all of them would require Garda vetting if they were here so probably trying to steer people to similar people if abroad.

(Politician, Engineer, Lawyer, Priest are the ones that don’t I believe)

If someone wanted me which professions were most trustworthy, I don’t think I’d suggest “elected public representative”. Or a member of the clergy for that matter

Totally agree. Incidentally, my applications were sent back because the date next to the parents signature didn’t match the date the Garda signed. As if that’s important.

It may sound simple, but bringing infant twins plus both parents to a Garda station at the same time is a rigmarole, particularly because we have an older child as well. Life is hard enough right now without pointless admin

    4. Go to r/irishcitizenship for more discussion. They are looking for a person who knows you and has some kind of professional qualification, certification, that they would be reluctant to lie. And that they might be registered so their identity can also be verified and they can be phoned to confirm that they know you (likely by the Irish embassy in the local region). And it has to be a list of professions that is truly global, would be in every country in the world. Not an easy feat if you think about it!

You could just find a notary and pay them to witness your signature.

Make sure whoever you pick has the ability to answer a phone call during office hours. In other words – don’t pick a teacher or a doctor as they generally won’t have the flexibility and this will delay things.

Years of getting kids’ passports renewed have taught me that getting your local garda station to witness it is the way to go for a quick turnaround.

The list isn’t arbitrary, not sure why you think it is. They’re all traceable individuals either due to a registration process for their job or the specifics of the role they perform.

It is a total joke, backwards civil service thinking.

    9. I had to go through this for my son recently, honestly the worst most shocking part is that I had to send my original passport or national ID to them, cause a guarda certified copy is not good enough, risking it being lost by mail on the way there, on the way back and while waiting to be processed for 20+ days in their office. The risk of losing it and being then abused for identity theft is too damn high. And I’m still waiting to get it back.

Pain in the neck. Went through this process recently. Just pick someone who will be able to take a phone call to say ‘Yes I am he/she’ and you’re good.

Used to be Commissioner for Oaths signed back of a birth cert if there was only one parent or gaurdian,

Can’t see how a “speech therapist” or my “vet” no offence would have authority
