      However, Kellogg does not represent Ukraine, but the US…

      Well there’s the actual crux of the whole ‘issue’: Ukraine is a sovereign country with supreme authority over their own state. So it’s up to Ukraine…. per UN.2

      They were trying to do this all the time, like demanding Medvedchuk to be a negotiator in the Trilateral Contact Group during Donbas invasion. After they refused to exchange prisoners unless Medvedchuk will be there, he was appointed a special representative for prisoner exchange, but nothing more.

      It’s a real problem that the US President is so spineless and allows Russia to choose who represents the USA.
