Good for him. Someone with balls. After all the USA does not need anything from the rest of the world (oh except maybe eggs)

I am willing to consider options, and that’s all we should do. That said, I’m typing this on an iPhone, posting it on Reddit, and wearing Nike sweatpants… so it won’t be easy.

So in this article, he’s talking about defence equipment. Considering that France have the only military industrial complex not reliant on any US tech, he’s basically saying they should buy from France…
and he’s absolutely right.

Good. I can’t blame anyone for boycotts now, until we rid ourselves of Krasnov, Muskrat, and their gang of cronies.

He talks about military hardware, not consumer products.
I totally stand behind this, though this will mean a gap in capabilities which we still need to develop.
On the European level there are in my opinion two big vulnerabilities we have. One being militarily dependent on the USA, the other being energy dependent on other countries. The more we aim to be independent, the more we can uphold our way of living.

Desperately checking tags in the shop with sign “made in EU” and 🇺🇦not so many things unfortunately can find
Exactly well said. It was America that started the drive for globalization because their compaies wanted bigger market because internal the markets were saturated. Now after all these years they going back to create a saturated market for their companies trump is a verg smart guy! Hehe If the new Ameijcan dream is to go back to internal markets then they going to find mass unemployment, lower wages and drop in GDP!

We gave the US military industry hundreds of billions because buying US weapons came with credible security guarantees. Time to invest all that money into the EU economy

I’ve been doing that since forever.
First Portugal, then Europe. I recommend everyone do that.
Help your country, help Europe. Help Ukraine and Canada. Help Japan, SKorea, Australia. Read the labels. Check the barcodes region.
There is always an option, not price tagged either. White brands (no brand?) are usually “local” (they cut costs on import / transport).

Yeah. Buy and develop European. As far as possible disengage from US. Governments should be driving this for the good Europe in the long term

I switched to red bull even though it costs more – i don’t think the average US citizen understands how angry the citizens are at them in allied countries.
This will not easily go back to normal.

A strong European military industrial base is not as French as he might like. Especially considering the insecurities connected with their next elections
Will be “fun” once they start crying when other Europeans start eating their lunch because the French, fundamentally, have no money or spare capacity not bound in welfare which their people defend with tooth and nail.
In any case, we should indeed – as always – do as he says, not what he means or does himself.

It’s also important to keep businesses like Palantir and Anduril out of EU defense contracts.
Their founders hold deeply anti democratic views and are actually connected to the current White House, through Vance, Musk and others.

While I agree there are a lot of things that Marcron and others are not addressing.
How will we stop price gauging with less competition? How are we going to replace parts and details that are from US?
How will we motivate local manufacturers to increase their production capacity ?
