We should also keep Canada, Greenland, Turkey, Georgia, Azerbaijan, Armenia and countries in Central Asia as potential partners. The US, Russia and China are threats to all of us.

We don’t need those fat American slobs to take advantage of us anymore. We can defend ourselves without colonizing the world. Europe deserves the benefits! 🇪🇺

As someone from the UK, I really hope we truly stand with Europe rather than trying to sit on the fence. We can’t afford to isolate ourselves or act like we’re somehow protected from American instability…

be funny if Trump actually winds up making Europe great again

    6. Europe must move toward strategic autonomy. The world is becoming increasingly unstable, and U.S. policies—whether under Trump or any future administration—are proving unreliable. Europe cannot afford to keep relying on Washington for economic, military, and digital security. If it wants to secure its sovereignty, it needs to start taking action now.

**Stop the ultra-rich**: The ultra-rich exert enormous influence on politics, media, and policy. Many use tax havens in Luxembourg, Ireland, and Switzerland while funding political movements that destabilize European democracies. Stricter wealth taxes, closing loopholes, and limiting billionaire influence over policy decisions should be priorities.

**Strict control over social media**: Social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter, and TikTok dominate European public discourse while spreading misinformation and allowing foreign election interference. These companies operate under U.S. or Chinese jurisdiction and respond to foreign political interests. Regulating or banning them—or favoring European-controlled alternatives—would reduce dependency and manipulation.

**US troops**: U.S. military presence in Europe means Washington still dictates European defense policy. There are more than 100,000 U.S. troops stationed across the continent, and the U.S. could involve Europe in conflicts that are not in its interests. At the same time, American politicians routinely question NATO’s relevance. Strengthening European military cooperation and reducing reliance on U.S. troops would allow for a more independent foreign policy.

**Economic independence**: The dollar still dominates global trade, giving the U.S. leverage over European economies. U.S. control over financial infrastructure like SWIFT and Visa allows Washington to impose economic pressure on European companies and governments. Expanding the euro’s role in global finance, creating independent payment systems, and reducing dependence on U.S. financial institutions would protect Europe’s economic sovereignty.

**Technological independence**: Big Tech monopolizes Europe’s cloud computing, AI, and digital infrastructure. American and Chinese firms control data storage, cybersecurity, and key online services, leaving Europe vulnerable to external political pressure. European governments should invest in local tech development, regulate foreign digital monopolies, and create a secure, independent technological infrastructure.

**Energy independence**: Europe remains dependent on external energy supplies, particularly from the U.S. and Russia, making it vulnerable to price manipulation and geopolitical pressure. To ensure long-term stability, Europe must accelerate investments in nuclear power and renewables, expand domestic energy production, and develop infrastructure that prioritizes energy security over external influence.

**Preparation for hybrid and cyber warfare**: The U.S., China, and Russia all engage in hybrid warfare, using cyberattacks, economic pressure, and disinformation campaigns to weaken adversaries. Europe is already a target for election interference, hacking, and infrastructure sabotage. The EU and its member states need to invest in stronger cyber defenses, create independent intelligence-sharing mechanisms, and develop countermeasures against disinformation and foreign manipulation. Strengthening Europe’s own offensive cyber capabilities may also be necessary to deter future threats.

**Cultural independence**: American media, academia, and corporations shape much of European public debate, often importing U.S. political and cultural conflicts that do not fit European history or realities. More funding for European media, research institutions, and universities could counterbalance U.S. influence and reinforce a distinct European identity.

What is the most realistic first step toward greater European autonomy?

Great depiction of how western europeans see Europe and have viewed it for decades. There is no Middle, East, there are no Balkans. Unless the great West wants to profit of it.

Wow, the Russian bots are strong in this comment section. Argue about the exact destroys of the drawing all you want, but the message is undeniable and everyone in Europe knows it.

How is China a threat? They’ve been actively attempting to improve relations and trade with Europe for the past few years

If we would be a more uniform union i would be all for it.

Trying to renovate and i need to drive 60km to a Belgian wholesaler because electricity stuff, wooden beams, even doors are different in the netherlands (wholesale shop 15km) and germany (wholesale shop 40km)

Why didn’t the EU ever try to make the EU as one whole union? Lots of stuff could easily be uniformed like traffic, building products etc.

    13. Perfect-Antelope-602 on

Well unity didn’t help yall for most of history, which is why the US is a superpower btw because Europe is too weak to maintain its own sovereignty so the us stepped up industrialization and militarization. Blame your weak ass forefathers for today’s bullshit.
