Fund it ourselves? Or make one ourselves?

Good way to fill the gap and spread our euro goodness

Whenever I read “radio free Europe” it sounds like a lobby to rid Europe of radios.

    3. Radio Free Europe has local reporters on the ground in Ukraine, covering the war.

The BBC, DW and France 24 should hire them immediately and promote new content.

Over 800k subscribers available for the taking on YouTube.

Material created by the US government is not subject to copyright, so much of the existing content could be duplicated legally and redistributed.

      Do it now.

You don’t need the US , fund it yourself and promote Europe

The fact that Radio Free Europe is depending on the US is ironic.

The USA funded RFE. Pushing the message the USA wanted. It was funded and founded to counter the news provided by the USSR to USSR controlled territories.

      Why continue USA soft power?

Voice of American and Radio Free Europe are better off as independent media by far anyhow so this is a great thing. Radio Free Europe was CIA propaganda against USSR. This of course is not needed anymore and we have enough alternative news stations in Europe today. This is just another US department where the president can basically fire and replace the leadership as least Trump did that with VOA last term when they posted a pro China story and the White House got angry. Which is pressure to a degree where they will never be free and always try to appease the current president. Cutting funding is ideal here as they will become more independent over time or create their own alternative and keep it going, but just with more critical news.

They are quite great as they write about dictatorships and reveal deep secrets. But they are not independent.

Why should we fund the propagandistic direct successor to the infamous cold war propagandistic media?

Good riddance, I wish them happy unemployment benefits. 🙂

I don’t like media founded by foreign governments operating in my country, but Radio Liberty was godsend. One of the independent(from the government and oligarchs) media in the country. I sure hope Europe will step in and take over the initiative. This genius move by Trump helps only US’s enemies – China, Russia, Belarus, Iran, etc…

Wait but wasn’t radio free europe like a cia cultural war operation from the cold war?

      Make America North Korea.

      Isolationism, the new US stance.

I don’t know, I am probably the only one in my country who thinks it is waste of money to keep funding it. We already have state funded radio. It is also not 1989 or something, the role of radio is negligible nowadays, there are better and more effective ways to do thing for those money if your goal si to inform. Don’t fall into the trap of funding obsolete projects just because you feel nostalgic, or want to say fuck you Trump
