Here we go…
You ain’t seen nothing yet!
Hasn’t he just made things worse?
Government and opposition are still stuck on the Lowry problem, but to essentially remove the opportunity for pre legislation scrutiny and debate between the gov and opposition before passing legislation is atrocious.
“It would mean the Government using its in-built majority to pass packaged bills through the Dáil, with no pre-legislative scrutiny and guillotined debate.”
17 days out of 110 is woeful performance, and it’s clear that it’s become a dysfunctional government. First chance they get, opposition are going to fling no confidence votes throughout this term, and possibly rightly so.
Again, there’s an arrogance to Martin and co here, but they need to remember they were elected to represent the citizens and tackle the problems, not to filibuster any hope of progress because of Lowry’s speaking rights.
I’d guess this government is not making a full term given the arrogance and contempt stemming from the Lowry problem.
Of all the stupid, stupid hills to choose to die on…
WTF does Lowry have on them?
It’s a joke. The truth is these cosy deals need to be in place as between FF and FG they only have 43%. This government cannot function
Honestly don’t know what this man offers the people of Ireland. He hasn’t had a single solitary political contribution in over 20 years since the smoking ban in 2004. Since that time he has sat around countless cabinet tables and cheered on Bertie Aherne’s corruption and brown envelopes and watched, as a senior minister, Fianna Fail drive the entire economy off a cliff that culminated in incomprehensible levels of suffering as people lost their houses and their kids to emigration. He then had a neck like a jockeys bollocks to attempt to gasslight the Irish people by standing up in the Dail and denying the bailouts instead of owning it if thats what they wanted to do.
His positions on key social issues like same-sex marriage and abortion has been criticised as inconsistent and he flip-flopped on picking a side until the writing was on the wall in the polls. His support for the crucifying austerity measures decimated Irish families – many of which I witnessed as friends and their families fell to ruin. He’s no stranger to corruption so Lowry and him are nice bedfellows despite the fact years ago he said Lowry being in the Dail was a mockery of our Parliament.
He’s a sniveling, conniving little weasel.
It’s kinda wild how the opposition has been saying “just put them on your government backbenches where they belong” and the government has constantly responded with “no more democracy for you moaners.”
Irish politics is such a joke. There’s honestly no point in paying attention to it or listening to it anymore. No work that benefits the public ever gets done, our public services become more rotten by the day, our societal problems grow by the day, no plans are ever put in place or God forbid ever implemented to fix or improve anything. All that goes on in the Dail is name calling, stupid fights like this, and bickering between parties. This of course, is when they’re actually in the Dail, which most of the time they haven’t been since the election and only 2 minor laws have been passed since November. And to top it all off no matter what happens, what they do (or more importantly don’t do) or how bad services or problems in our society gets the usual suspects will get voted back in every time. And that’s not me advocating for Sinn Fein either because I think they’d be equally as bad and useless in Government.
If you voted for Fianna Fail or Fine Gael this is what you deserve.
They’ve proven themselves underhanded power mad arse holes time and again but if you spoke against them you’re a shinner apparently.
What a fucking waste of another 5 years.
We are not a serious country.
And the shit show goes on.
🎶 What became of the lowry lads 🎶
