I always was flooded with an unexplainable feeling of destitute when I was in the city…
But then you got Rockerill which wouldn’t be possible without these buildings

Those who say it is the ugliest city in Europe have probably not traveled much. They haven’t looked at the Soviet industrial cities of Eastern Europe or the poor areas of Greece, the Balkans, and Spain.
And as for the world, there are far uglier cities in Asia and the Middle East. And having been to Douala in Cameroon, I can say that compared to it, Charleroi is like a fairy-tale town.
You can make most cities look just as ugly if you cherry pick pictures to only showcase the worst spots tbh.

Beats most British cities
I can take photos of most industrial areas of former industrial towns and they’d all look the same… you can go to Newcastle, to Detroit & co and see the exact same. It’s really unfair to Charleroi. Like it’s not great, but it’s like judging someone’s physique by taking pictures of their buttholes after taking a shit, what would you expect?
