It’s gas how the yanks are about to do more economic damage to each of us individually than migrants ever could.
But the lot who would level all their life’s problems at the feet of foreigners coming to Ireland will still absolutely lap the ever living shite out of Trumps orange nut sack

” … 50,000 and 80,000 jobs that would have been created ***or kept within the economy*** won’t be”
That’s a bit of a confusing statement. Does he mean that 50-80k jobs won’t be created, or won’t be retained?
Because suggesting there’ll be that number of job losses would imply an economic disaster on the horizon, whereas just a slowdown / pause in job growth is not that drastic.

So what, better to learn to not be reliant on a right wing always at war/supporting dictators/supporting genocide, we survived the recession and austerity caused by FF/FG, and a lot of those jobs at american companies that will go are not held by Irish people, most will only have the bare minimum of Irish staff to qualify for their tax cut.

It’s so amazing that they used the tax collection bonanza from past years wisely and not just expanding the size of the public service to unsustainable levels that they will have to rollback the tax cuts

Our FF/FG government had almost 10 years to plan for the retreat of globalisation that’s happening right now (it was clear since 2015/2016 in the lead up to Trump’s first presidency and in the UK with Brexit).
And 10 years later, there is still no plan 10 years later. Where is a new industrial policy which focuses on building up indigenous companies and the domestic economy so that we are not so vulnerable to global shocks? Where are the direct state supports for new startups and SMEs (instead of tax breaks and retroactive credits for companies who don’t need as much support)? Where is the investment on infrastructure and public housing, so that we can become a higher-productivity country?
Instead, FG and FF over the past 10 years have just made us more undemocratic, more inefficient, more reliant on multinationals, and more centralised in Dublin – as it all now looks likely to tumble down on FF and FGs watch, as we are more vulnerable to Trump’s tariffs than other EU countries..
While FF/FG are great at spin, our economy remains vulnerable, we remain the most centralised country in the OECD and EU, and our public services and infrastructure remain worse than most similar European countries…
