I’ve tried a ton of things to resolve this, but it continues to happen. Trying to figure out if it’s me or the dishwasher. Sometimes my glasses end up with some fogginess too; but it’s the worst and most obvious on the silverware.
###### Things I have done to troubleshoot:
– “Special Salz” is always full
– “Klarspüler” is always full
– I run a cleaning cycle at least once a month, with a special dishwasher cleaning product
– Will run silverware and glassware on the hottest cycle
– Stack them differently in the tray
It can’t just be hard water buildup, because once they look like this, it won’t wash off in the next cycle; I have to scrub them by hand.
What am I doing wrong??

Check how hard your water is and if the filter in your dishwasher is full. Also, is your silverware standing up straight or lying down? If the latter, you normally have some residual water in top of mugs and bowls and whatnot. If it evaporates, you get those rings.

From the looks of it it seems there is water residing in the spoons after washing and then drying off and leaving those marks. Turn them around, so they don’t collect water.

This is calcium carbonate. You should be able to clean it with vinegar or something similarly acidic. To prevent this place, the spoons the other way around or sideways.

Have you checked that the salt dosage setting on your dishwasher matches your local water hardness?
