Isn’t it a given they would vote confidence in the person who only got the job through a questionable deal

It’s clear to see she’s out of her depth but FFG will still vote yes because it’s in their best interest. Disgraceful carry on.

To the surprise of no one FFFG is happy to plow through anything that would normally cause a resignation of an appointee by just ignoring it and supporting them anyway. Hell we had the first garda commissioner in history to get 2 no confidence votes and they still supported him. Not a normal party

Obviously they have the numbers to try and force through a vote of confidence in Murphy, but in practical terms it’s really difficult to last as Ceann Comhairle if the opposition are actively against you.
Such a needless mess at the start of a government, caused entirely by the government.

FF/FG willing to degrade everything in order to stay in power. And for what? Not to build houses. Not to improve our health service. Not to deal with migration problems. Purely because they desire power. Shambolic.

All of these clowns enjoy a base salary of nearly €114000, remember that when you next look at the deductions on your payslip.

This is such a waste of time.
The government are obviously going to vote confidence, they proposed her only a few months ago.
I heard on today fm, a sf(I think I didn’t catch the start) td saying that even if she wins the vote, which she will, she should still resign. As she has last the confidence of the house. I don’t really understand the logic there tbh.

We should be in the fucking streets over this.

The Ceann Comhairle should be an independent neutral chairperson of the Dail, with sufficient understanding of Dail procedures and Standing Orders to manage Dail proceeding efficiently and impartially and capable of doing so in the Irish Language – she is simply not qualified for the position on any of these counts.

Thank the people of Tipp who voted in a tax defaulter / person called out by a tribunal of inquiry

She has to go. The Ceann Comhairle position should not have been included in the wheeling and dealing for Government formation. What has happened to the ‘new politics’ that Micheál Martin has been banging on about for over a decade now? The minute Fianna Fáil are back in the driving seat that all gets shoved to one side.

You know what really sold me the criminal indifference of FF/FG is when Martin laughed about our housing situation. Now to see the spit on our institutions with this farce.
The sick part is they feel so secure in power that they can spit in the public eye with their abysmal record in housing, corruption, Irish language, infrastructure, poor education and environmental policy. This is just shows how indifferent they because they know Irish people wont do anything.

Making government can be a grimy business, and like sausage-making, it’s often best you don’t see what goes into it.
Unfortunately for FF/FG, they’ve very publically displayed all of the chancers and crooks they’ve chosen to make their governmental sauage with, and unsurprisingly people aren’t enamoured with it.
