My candidacy for the Presidency has been officially confirmed by the unanimous decision of our Party Assembly and the Grand National Assembly Group.
I extend my gratitude to my esteemed Chairman, Mr. Özgür Özel, the authorized bodies of my party, our parliamentary group, the dedicated party members who participated in the primary election, and the 15.5 million citizens who supported this process with great dedication.
**From now on, we embark on a long, challenging journey filled with obstacles. At the end of this journey, there is democracy, the rule of law, justice, and prosperity. Most importantly, there is a bright future for Turkey.**

Sadly, it seems he will have to win despite Europe rather than with Europe, who seem content to hit the snooze button on the global democracy leadership question and work together with an autocrat who has lost the popular mandate.
If the country’s electoral system survives and he wins, it could herald a new era of global democracy completely without western leadership.

If protests continue and grow, Erdogan will have to release Imamoglu. They made clear Erdogan had nothing to do with the arrest (sure…), so they have a exit plan if it goes very bad. But better if Erdogan leaves for Malaysia.
