If our allies no longer believe US security guraentees they will develope their own nuclear weapons. All of our major allies have the capability to develope nuclear weapon should they so choose. Any president of either party that causes our allies to question their alliance with the US is a defacto nuclear proliferator. Trump could turn out to be the biggest nuclear proliferator in history. Just two cases, South Korea and Japan have both decided to give up nuclear weapons in return for US alliances. Both of those nations have the technical capability and the financial resources to develope nuclear weapons should they so choose.
