President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan accused the political opposition of “ruining the economy” during the largest protests the country has experienced in over a decade, following the arrest of Istanbul Mayor Ekrem İmamoğlu.
Erdoğan’s remarks came after Özgür Özel, the leader of the Republican People’s Party (CHP), called for a **boycott on the evening of March 24 against companies he claimed were backed by the government**.
Erdoğan stated that the opposition was “**so blinded by rage that they are willing to set the country and the nation on fire.”**
Speaking at the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party) parliamentary group meeting on Wednesday, **Erdoğan declared that “those responsible for the sabotage targeting the Turkish economy will be held accountable before the judiciary.**
**Many people believe that the case against İmamoğlu, who is seen as the biggest challenger to Erdoğan’s 22-year rule, is politically motivated.** However, the government insists that the judiciary is independent and free from political influence.
The evidence against İmamoğlu has not been officially disclosed. However, according to his testimony record obtained by Euronews Turkish, **the case largely relies on “secret witnesses.”**
Such charges based on **”secret witnesses” have previously been seen in criminal cases against opposition politicians.**

Wow somehow it’s everyone else’s fault not the fault of the government in charge for the last couple of decades. It’s like I’ve seen this before with narcissistic psychopaths in charge of my own government 🫠

Which means you’re doing the exact right thing.
Every dictator relies on people doing their will to remain in power, and those are usually in it for themselves.
Guess what happens if supporting the dictator becomes unprofitable?

He is in total control of the economy and he is the guy that doesn’t want to raise the interest rate because it’s un-Islamic.
Or maybe because he’s pushing Pharaonic projects all around the country and doesn’t care about the galloping inflation people have been suffering for years.
When he was first elected he simply followed a few key advices from the world bank and his economy boomed. He’s been surfing on that wave for nearly 20 years now, while destroying that economy and islamising the country.

If it wasn’t for Erdogan being a stupid dictator Turkey (as it would still be called) could have been a prosperous economy in the EU. Instead Turks ended up with this shit show. Very sorry for them.
