One way to sensor the conversation “The Department of Housing was angry that PMVT would be in exclusive receipt of government funding to operate projects like family hubs, only for PMVT staff to then make comments criticising the family hub scheme. “
What’s the total of homeless now? Another 50% higher?
Sure who’d dare criticize the department under Eoghan Murphy? Or under any of his predecessors of successors? They all did a wonderful job increasing homelessness. That’s what they set out to do. That’s what they achieved.
The former chief executive of the Peter McVerry Trust censured a staff member for criticising the government after the then-housing minister Eoghan Murphy complained about commentary made by charity staff about the housing crisis. Pat Doyle, who stood down in 2023, sincerely apologised to Mr Murphy and said there would be “no repeat” of the comments. The chief executive offered to use a prestigious housing role to promote the government’s “positive” impact on housing after the complaint.
