Un’invasione americana della Groenlandia potrebbe effettivamente accadere: una volta ero scettico sulle chiacchiere di Trump sul cogliere la Groenlandia – non sono più.

What is there to say about this betrayal, thank past US presidents for convincing European Nato members that they do not need their own nukes.

    2. European countries should send military detachments to Greenland to join their military. That way any military action towards Greenland becomes more risky because the European troops would also be on the front lines.

    3. NoMathematician9564 on

Time for EU nations to get nukes. It’s expensive, yes. It’s dangerous, yes. But you either get a nuke, or you get nuked.

    4. WilliamWeaverfish on

Every EU nation, plus the UK, Norway, Iceland, and Switzerland should be sending troops there right now.

    5. Baba_NO_Riley on

What Vance said on his visit basically was that Denmark has been treating Greenland poorly and that somehow America will save it from that.

That’s a Putinesque overture. That is to paint Greenland as disfunctional and in such a dire situation that the “rescue limited operation” may be conducted from (the last remaining) US base to “save” the rest of population.

The other way they may try was a practice of simply purchasing land and then meddling into Greenland politics – the way they acquired Hawaii.

    6. Enough_Code_3831 on

Trade wars everybody accepts, but invading an ally would completely isolate the US.

    7. Just a question? What could Europe realistically do if the US would annex Greenland? Would there be any military consequences? Would the EU risk a war with the most powerful military in the world and a nuclear power? I mean they might kick american military out of Europe and would probably impose sanctions, but how I see it there’s nothing Europe could do besides saying they’re really really pissed.

    8. opinionate_rooster on

Well, nobody challenged Russia’s expansion. Why would anyone challenge the US annexation of Greenland?

    9. Crewmember169 on

Wouldn’t that trigger Article 5? Bribing voters in Greenland seems more likely but who knows these days…

    10. As much as it hurts to say this, if the US actually decides to just take Greenland there is simply nothing we can do about it and no point in engaging in actual fighting.
We are in a weak position and both sides know it. France will not use their Nukes, EU nations will not send troops, we will send strongly worded letters and then accept reality.

Greenland is not the hill we should die on, but it should be a major wakeup call for Europe.

I think such a provocative move, should shake the mainstream Repubs who have cowered in fear of Trump/Musk into action.

This action would have very consequential results at the ballot box, as the US would need to create the means to maintain the region by land sea and air and I can not see the “good” thinks hegseth is doing to increase military readiness or manpower levels.

    12. KingGreen78 on

No, it won’t. The US doesn’t have a dictator, and a president cannot unilaterally annex another country without congress, they even need congress to grant statehood of any territory,

    13. Fluffy-Republic8610 on

Greenland would need to request Danish troops to set up a base there. Unless they are willing to admit that separatism has made them a tasty target and run back to Denmark then we all just have to watch them get swallowed up.

No EU country should put troops on Greenland without their invitation. We are not land grabbers.

The people of Greenland appear to be to have been unlucky to live through the end period of a special time in world history when it appeared for a few decades like a territory that large and that mineral rich with 55000 inhabitants could breakaway and be independent. Now it looks hopelessly naive. But I don’t blame them. But they have to choose a side soon. Independence is impossible.

Where is NATO on all of this? Not a peep from anyone as a precaution to military involvement.

If he could find his ass with both hands..and then not send the plans to journalists on the equivalent of snapchat

    16. BioDriver on

Assuming he still had funds after today’s “liberation day.” Stocks, bonds, and futures are all in the shitter and he’s creating a recession

    17. Firm-Geologist8759 on

First off, why? It would alienate all us allies. It’s not about security because they already have options for more bases. The economic fallout would almost certainly outweigh the economic benefits of mining. 90% of the country is against it.

    18. Fickle-Message-6143 on

Did EUor Denmark started kicking out USA troops stationed in their countries if not then just give Trump Greenland because it is clear that EU is only strong on the words and paper? The only European countries who for now should have USA troops are the ones that border Ukraine, Russia and Belarus, also peacekeepers in BiH every other should immediately start kicking them out.

    19. ihatetothat1 on

The United States needs Greenland. It’s for the security of the world. 🌎

    20. BrainEatingAmoeba01 on

Glad you guys are catching up. Canada has understood the gravity of all of this for a while now.

    21. Cat_world_domination on

We already know Trump will order it if he feels like it, what I would like to know is how that would actually play out. Would anyone else in the US government or military be able to stop it, and if so, would they?

Then if the invasion did happen, how would Denmark and the rest of NATO respond?

    22. Diagoras21 on

Lol, I wonder what they’ll do when they get it and find out it’s pretty much unlivable for most and a big money pit.

    23. Pleasethelions on

Any chance they’d take it and then give it back once a Democratic president wins an election again?

    24. Stop this Nuke shit comments folks. it won’t solve nothing & is just distracting propaganda crap.

    25. ButterscotchJade2025 on

Lots of land disputes are solved with invasions. Battle of Fishguard was a military invasion of Great Britain by Revolutionary France during the War of the First Coalition.

    26. holy_cal on

When these idiots tell you who they are, believe them the first time.

I fully expect some time of military engagement or increased pressure presence in order to steal Greenland or Iceland. They’re too stupid to know the difference.

    27. Lets just think about this one. What could be possibly do to prevent this. Literally nothing I think…

    28. ouderelul1959 on

Let’s try and nuke the us basis in greenland as a retaliatory measure. Greenland people won’t mind much i think

    29. nihilt-jiltquist on

      It’s Trump’s new domino theory… First Greenland, then Canada… then…Mexico… then…

    30. Grouchy-Land-366 on

I found out that (us) Brits can only launch Nukes from Submarines. No surface or air delivery mechanisms available. Only 2 nuke subs in the water (of 4) At a time. There is a big gap that needs filling.

    31. Wonderful-Variation on

Trump supports Israel annexing land and he supports Russia annexing land. Why wouldn’t he be supportive of America doing annexations as well?
