When “stabilocracy” becomes the EU’s favorite flavor, don’t be surprised when the democratic aftertaste vanishes.
Sometimes breaking up is the only pro-European move left.

If 2 months of “new leader of the free world” flexing isn’t just gonna be empty words and posturing on display for all to see, then the EU must get its head out of its ass pronto.

Not just Vucic but also Orban, Erdogan etc. The chilling effect taking the three out would have on the currently insane global autocrat momentum would be massive, the first phase of the blitz would be dead in its tracks.

For democrats, getting rid of them is the actual realpolitik, not the narrow interests of their country (that will soon be taken over by autocrats, too, if their momentum isn’t broken).

      >It seems the EU is happy to have a dictator on their doorstep if German car makers get lithium to make electric cars that Serbs cannot afford. Think of it as the EU’s equivalent of Trump’s minerals deal with Ukraine.

Succinct and understandable opinion. One detail I don’t like is the singling out of german economic corruption. Yes, clearly a part of it. However Stellantis (multinational, dutch centre) and Rio Tinto (British/Australian) are even mentioned in the Article.

Wouldn’t opposing Vucic just push him closer to Russia/China?

I think it’s a norm amongst Serbs to consider Maidan a Western coup. Isn’t showing support for Serbian protests will make them think the protests are actually a Western-financed attempt at a coup?
