I don’t know if this is being pushed domestically by left-wing voters or is about balancing France’s image in Arab countries, but I like it.

Good development. Zionism is a US project. We have no strategic benefit. Our support has been against our own interest and was purely for satisfying our American “allies”.

Would be huge since France is a UN security Council state. Not only morally but strategically this makes sense. The global south overwhelmingly backs a Palestinian state and Europe must court them as the US world order deteriorates. Israel does not serve European interests and it hurts our image around the world to be associated with them in any way. Hopefully many European countries join France to do this (Belgium, Luxembourg, Portugal, and Denmark all seem to indicate they would only do it collectively)

Completely meaningless unless sanctions are also imposed on Israel for the occupation of Palestine.

After the red crescent medics that were executed I don’t see how any country can back Israel’s current regime. Undeniable crimes against humanity are being committed.

France doing the right thing again. France is on a roll lately.

The reason nobody does anything serious regarding Israel is because of the US protecting them. Now that Europe is not too worried about making sure the US is happy, then its not much reason to let Israel do whatever they want

Europe should boycott that US outpost that is Israel. It would have a much greater impact than engaging in this stupid trade war.
It’s absolutely too late already for the millions of palestinians murdered, displaced, tortured or marginalized, but Europe could at least regain some legitimacy by opposing the apartheid.
It would be a good way to start this new era for our international relations.

But they will only do that if some Arab countries recognize Israel so it is not some big moral decision made by France but rather cynical realpolitik.

Time for foreigners to admire how big of a talker our president is.

So, Palestinians will be rewarded for what they did on October 7th?

They’ll never be a state as long as Hamas are in power.

We should recognise both and then just stop support or involvement for either beyond just UN statements supporting a two state solution, stay totally out of that mess.

Would this be aimed at establishing the Palestinian Authority as the legitimate rulers of the state of Palestine?

I would love to see a state of Palestine, I just don’t see it happening anytime soon.
They should just call is Semiteland or Semitistan and incorporate both states in one where all it’s citizens would have equal rights and reparations would be paid to the families that suffered from the conflict.
All the landgrab would go back to their original owners. Full democracy for everyone. New Parlament new parties.
Done.

Israel needs a serious whack across the head. Ship all the ambassadors home and ban them from participating in all international cultural events.
Arrest IOF genociders when they try to vacation in Europe and ship em to the Hague.
If the Israelis aren’t interested in ceasing their nazi-like evolution, they have no business being part of any world community.
