What is it with countries with the word North in them always causing us problems

Interesting story and I’m not doubting it but, as seems to be common with security stories, so many details feel inflated or overblown.
“They’re really an early adopter of AI, as far as the adversaries that we track,” Mr Hultquist told Prime Time. “They are particularly using it to create fake identifications. So, they might take a real ID and then change the picture so that it looks like them.”
They changed a picture on an ID. I was doing that as a teenager to buy alcohol! Calling it early adoption of AI makes it sound like some Bond villain high tech stuff when he sounds like simple use of tech.
Final line is pure hedge: “So even though this could actually end up being a somewhat harmless scenario, there’s a serious risk that you’ve let a North Korean spy into your organisation and they have access to your IT.”
Could be harmless or could be a serious threat. Helpful.
