The U.S. market is anything but healthy right now, and I’m worried this is a ripple effect. During the 2008 crisis for example there were also large swings and rallies. Of course we’re not the primary market here, but we’re so interconnected that the performance of our markets follows that one of the U.S. to a degree.

As optimistic counter-point though, US treasury bond yield is rising while EU equivalents are falling (indicating a lower trust that US will pay back these bonds and investors instead choose EU bonds as “safe haven”). So it seems the market makers at least show more confidence in the long-term outlook of the EU market as compared to the US market.
