I’m a seller on eBay and can attest to it being a horribly operated company. This is unsurprising.

“It was call avoidance,” she said. “If I’m going on the ‘break unpaid’ ops code, I’m being skipped; it’s going to someone else on the team, they’re getting additional calls,” she said.

“[For] idle time on an email, anything over 60 seconds is considered work avoidance,” she said.”

It’s absolutely insane that a big issue was made of this. The TL should simply give them a buzz and ask if them if they’re ok. Call avoidance is a behavioural pattern, not a one off event.

The other CSRs aren’t getting “extra calls” as a result. They’re logged in and if they’re available they’ll answer the call. If productivity is an issue, there’s processes to address this.

This is all seems insane over something small, particularly if it’s a one off. That supervisor has her name online now, the company is getting bad PR for something that’s so small it’s barely worth even talking about. Insanity.

Omg ok i worked for this company for 6 months, and they track your toilet breaks TO THE SECOND and was allowed only 10 minutes a day,

The job destroyed my mental health, i went to company counselling and they told me i was reacting to other stuff in my life, really it was people screaming at me all shift calling me names and telling me I’m stupid, cursing me in surveys that i would get reprimanded for because it wasn’t 5 stars,

Its a fucking rough job that they make 100 times worse

Fuck me this is a grim read. I feel sorry for anyone who has to work like that. Imagine working for a 60 second Hitler of a manager like that too

I know management went from Gateway 2000 to eBay. Not surprised about the toxic culture there.

Horrible little Hitler supervisor. Unfortunately workplaces in Ireland are full of these people. No talent. Just a nasty streak.

It really depends on what department you work in at eBay. The front office phone teams are the absolute worst for pressure and micromanaging and the back office teams are easy going as fuck. It can be heavily dependent on who your TL is as well, most of them are sound enough but there’s definitely a few wankers.

Recession on the way. I was fired for similar in ebay in summer 2008

I worked with both of them when I worked there, he’s a gentleman shes a cu#t. Would be very interested to see if she’d provide her personal or work phone to show how many calls and texts she replied to during work hours.

Sick note and WRC. Big claim on his hands here too. I’d clean them out.
