Prolonged stays in these centres is detrimental to these asylum seekers. We owe it to them to deport them after their application fails, rather than allowing appeals to continue prior to deportation.

There is no way to comment on this story objectively without sounding like a bit of a prick.
I would rather that there were no incidents and no one got hurt but that is not the world we live in.
Remember how they tried to put ipas centres next to national schools or in rural areas where the refugees would make up a significant percentage of the total population?
In those situations how many people could have been hurt if an incident happened or someone had a psychotic break etc.
The government has just washed their hands of the issues and left it to the local communities to deal with.

    3. Assuming most (if not all) were people taking their own lives, that’s over double the average rate in Ireland.

We need to clear these centres out. Deport all who shouldn’t be here simple as.
