En in Vorselaar dit weekend ook.
Ik ben geen voorstander maar ik vrees dat we naar een 0-toleratie moeten.
en op z’n minst wat meer controles, ik ben in meer dan 10 jaar 2x gecontroleerd

According to a post last night (about too harsh punishments for the possesion of hard drugs) it will happen even more and more. Very sad.
People don’t think they have a problem and that they can make their own rules. Only solution is punish them way harder than what they are doing now.

Because drunk driving is socially accepted in Belgium, for one. Too many people think it’s normal to go out, down a lot of beers and drive home afterwards. And they don’t stop their peers from doing the same.
Two, the chances of getting caught are too slim. The small amount of police checks that do happen are instantly reported on Facebook, Waze etc. so drunk degenerates can circumvent them.
Three, when you do get caught, the consequences are negligible. Same holds true when you actually cause an accident resulting in bodily harm or death, just a slap on the wrist.
People’s attitudes are tough to change, but the government should do more. More checks and if you get caught under the influence, you lose your licence immediately for at least 5 years and your car is confiscated. If you are caught driving without a license after that, it should result in financial ruin. But, don’t count on that ever happening.
Traffic deaths are, unfortunately, an acceptable trade-off for too many people. As long as they can keep up their irresponsible habits.

Certain family members are kind of sad/disappointed that they’re not on our call list when giving birth to watch our toddler and we looked for help with a paid sitter. They’re both drinkers. A beer around four, a white wine while prepping dinner and a bottle of wine while having dinner. If it’s a good night they end up with an additional wine or pouse café in front of the tv. This every day.
I do not want them to step in a car, while being stressed because birth, and drive to our house. Not only for their own safety but those of others too.
When you explain this to them, they tell me they can stop anytime and are more than capable to still drive.
So. That’s how it’s still happening. People think they’re more than capable and don’t realise they’re not. Often making other victims than themselves.

Because most of us constantly tolerate our friends and family driving under the influence.
We don’t speak up and hold them accountable in person.
It’s still normalised.
Just like using your phone when driving.
I ride a motorcycle everyday on the small ring of Ghent , 1 in 5 people i pass are distracted by their phones.

I happen to know this family. Typical marginal edge cases. Sad truth is that they have 2 more kids they can and will fuck up after this.

Omdat drank en drugs gewoon ingeburgerd en heel normaal in onze maatschappij zijn.

I chose the pedestrian life because I am a cannabis drug addict (but fortunately I quit tobbacco and legal hard drug of alcohol two years ago) and they still find a way to check into buses to find weed smokers (I don’t smoke but I have a shit ton of cannabis cookies, Yes I do edibles because I care for my breathing as I am a heavy swimmer).
Belgium is very laxist with drunk drivers and people who use sleeping pills medicines.
Nobody should drive under impairement or take the bus/train FFS
Also when are we going to FINE people DEPENDING ON THEIR REVENUES ?
David Clarinval, Georges Louis Bouchez and the wealthy mfers running this country won’t do this to protect their drunk deadly friends.

Cos punishments are not strict or serious enough.
