Teachers need to be shamed and reprimanded too for talking about personal information of their students outside of the school to those not working within the school.

The teachers in my life share all the gossip of their students and their students personal life.

      It’s not on.

    2. “In these cases, the assessments ranged from quite specific personal remarks on individual students, to more broad statements such as ‘absolutely not’ or ‘a gut feeling’, without further elaboration.”

Bad enough that the data was leaked, but this could be considered discriminatory as well.

Dont teachers have to use initials and no personal information since GDPR. I remember hearing teachers being annoyed about this. I wonder if there could be possible legal repercussions.

Years ago we stopped in a hotel for lunch while driving to Mayo from Dublin. We sat beneath a balcony where there was a big gang of what I realised were teachers having a great old gossip. They started out discussng mock exam results, but then moved on to dicussions of which girl’s sister was a teen mother and how she’d probably go the same way, speculation on some parents’ personal lives and a lot of discussion on how some of their pupils were flawed and how they’d turn out in life. Being that Ireland is so small, I was baffled as to why they were being so indiscrete and really opened my eyes to how these privacy rules and policies don’t mean a thing in reality.

    5. “We are really sorry that this happened” – that’s how my 10 year old would write an apology!

I know a teacher who works in a disadvantaged school and the way she talks about the students and parents is just disgusting. She thinks she is being whitty and funny but it’s a real eye opener into exactly the type of horrible person she is deep down.

Not a data breach as they have pointed to in the article, this is a leak caused by user incompetence.

Ireland does not balance well between coddling kids and allow them to become sociopaths that hit and terrorise teachers or have the teachers be the sociopaths that abuse and terrorise the kids.

      Respect should go both ways.

Jesus that’s pretty bad form, I went to the school myself and absolutely loved it so at least from my own expereince I would say that serious a fuck up like that is fairly uncharacteristic. Some heads will roll for that, no doubt!
