      Although I suspect many with no skin in the game will disagree I can understand why people object to having windfarms near them. They are visually intrusive and dominating, noisy and because of the amount of energy and oil used in the production of all the concrete and ongoing lubrication and start-up, they are not as environmentally efficient as people think.

      However, I don’t see how people could be against solar farms, they are relatively non-intrusive and produce hardly any noise. Unlike windfarms sites do not require a massive amount of concrete for a foundation and they can be put up relatively quickly with much of the assembly being done off-site.

      Common sense winning out? Wonderful. They still need to completely strip out vast tracts of over-regulation out of the planning process across Ireland where building is concerned.

      Hyper-capitalism is bad. We cannot cater for everyone nor should we try to.
