I don’t see why it would cause a crisis in Turkey. It’s not like they aren’t aware there’s a dispute.
This map has no practical relevance it merely conveys a political message one that is detached from dialogue and inherently provocative.
Greece drawn HD Turkiye drawn by 5 year old kid. Detail wise.
Incoming triggered Turks in 3,2….
According to international law borders should look way different all over the world yet they don’t in most cases. But UK and other fully Western nations do give away islands if told to do so. Some countries claim they have rights to waters way outside their land areas.
With “crisis” I presume you mean a temper tantrum that consists mostly of threats of war for domestic consumption.
This is my 100-meter island, so all the sea around it is mine
Sure, but that’s just a map of Canada \s
What exactly is under dispute here?
Turkey doesn’t have much of an EEZ claim in the Aegean because nearly all of the islands right off the Turkish coast are Greek territory and that basically cuts it off under the established rules that most countries use for determining EEZ.
This is why the Turks have come up with convoluted reasons why their mainland should have an EEZ, but the islands off their coast (which are Greek territory) should somehow be ignored.
This idea is pretty obviously motivated by a desire for territorial gains, not by any sort of consistent rule. I understand that the Turks want more resources, but they don’t have much of a leg to stand on when it comes to claiming an EEZ that crosses into Greek territorial waters.
I am really surprised that the Greeks act as if the Turks have time for this nonsense right now, As you can see from the comments we don’t.
We are dealing with our internal issues (I thought the Greeks were doing the same, but apparently your situation is more comfortable).
Anyway could you please tell your general staff not to change our agenda by saying things like “Wherever necessary, we can intervene within 5 minutes!”?
Meanwhile the Spainish EEZ despite having islands and enclaves at the Moroccan main land

All happy friends in NATO
I wonder when Greece will think I am a part of their maritime plan. Would you like my garden as a port?
Turkey’s argument boils down to “So you have this rock sticking out of the water, and it’s supposedly part of your country, and by that you claim so much of the sea around it, no way, nuh uh!”.
The reality is that these rocks ARE part of Greece and by international law they DO claim the sea around them.
You can’t declare EEZ to block some other nation’s access to a shared sea by stationing troops on inhabitated islands despite of Treaty of Lausanne and international law, that you love to mention. If you want to cripple Turkish maritime trade, you need fight it first. And we know how this goes very well. So cry, cry, cry and declare EEZ. Everybody’s gangsta until things get serious.
While they are at it, they might as well use those badboy islands to grab some land from the mainland Turkey, too. It only seems logical at this point.
Yeah it has come to this now.
On the contrary. It shows which parts are officially demarcated ΕΕΖ and which are not.
Looks like a student thesis map…no an official maritime spatial map of Greek gov.
And is base on seville map eez….
so its made on UCLOS standards.
With blue stripes is demarcated ΕΕΖ
West XE 4 is EEZ Greece- Italy
East-south, between XE 3-XE 2 is Gr-Egypt EEZ boarders.
OP want trigger people and make pro-turkish propaganda.
Turkey make crisis year by year because voted Casus Belli against Greece since 1996…..
and disputes what signs over the years.
*Greece announces a maritime spatial planning mapGreece announces a maritime spatial planning map*
**As long as there isnt a link to this claim, this has no grounds to be here**
This is both unreasonable and unlawful. Europeans who support Greeks unconditionally are ignoring the truth due to their hatred of Turkey knowing very well they wouldn’t accept this for their own country. I don’t have to explain why this is unreasonable. But it is also against international law. Turkey hasn’t ratified UNCLOS and no matter how many comedic maps Greeks draw, Turkey has no obligation to abide by it. In fact any pressure to force UNCLOS upon Turkey is against international law as ratification of international treaties are based on state consent.
This is nuts and Turkey’s claim is nuts too. There is no way Greece can force Turkey out of Aegean Sea while there is no way EU would let Turkey claim EEZ almost to Crete. I wished both sides just sign an aggrement and share these REASONABLE disputed areas %50-50. With reasonable I mean of course Turkey shouldn’t have EEZ claim around Crete that is ridiculous.
Suddenly, map of Canada
Greece has a maritime dispute with albania too I wonder what happened to that.
For a second there, i thought this was a chatGPT-generated map of Canada
Edit: oh i shouldve read the comments before posting.
“Disputed”
Turkey is not a member of this agreement; therefore, it cannot be bound by it. Additionally, many of the member countries do not have a coastline, and those that do do not face such a complex situation. There are only two regions in the world with such a complicated situation: the Aegean Sea and the East China Sea. In both regions, the parties have disputes because the agreement in question is inadequate for such special circumstances. Turkey and Greece should reach an agreement between themselves, but neither side is doing so.
This is just an OP.ed to promote The Odyssey film 🎥
Turk bot
Another greek joke but well Turks don’t laugh for it. Try babe if you can.
Though it was a canadian map for a second here.
Turkey can piss off
That’s a very heavy title. And then you crossposted it to r/turkey for brigading. Why are mods allowing such blatant brigading all the time?
It’s funny how people go “INTERNATIONAL LAW!!!” when Turkey isn’t a member of UNCLOS. An international law doesn’t mean you can enforce your own agreements on other countries without them signing it. Without Turkey signing that agreement, there is no legal obligation for Turkey to bound to UNCLOS. This is not how international laws works.
Disputed only by Turkey. Much like in Cyprus, international law falls fully and unambigously on the side of the Greeks.
Also don’t forget that while Erdogan will bitch about this unfair international standard in the Aegean, he fully capitalizes on it in the Black Sea where it falls in Turkey’s favor.
