Are Trump and his team deliberately doing everything to anger the Europeans?

    2. Kiwi_Gum on

I don’t like Trump or Vance but I think they are right about this particular topic.

    3. AspectNational2264 on

When Europeans mass produce weapons, Americans won’t be able to play the role of “world police”. I bet US will then start complaining about the arms race or some other bullshit issues after losing their power projection to Europe.

I really can’t understand the geopolitical stance of the USA. This push from them really awakens Europe’s sleeping giants.

The level, degree, and depth of maga ignorance and stupidity knows no bounds.

Maybe putting military bases in every country sent us the wrong message then.

    6. Zefixius on

When the US steps down as leader of the free world, Europe will have to step up. Maybe it’s for the best.

    7. Sweet_Cake4826 on

It’s really insane that they got brainwashed into believing that this was a one way relationship all along. As if Europe didn’t help the US, as if the soft power of the US wasn’t mostly beneficial to themselves

    8. Ok_Photo_865 on

Absolutely, so quit whining America and leave, that’s what you keep saying you’re going to do, so Europe can get on with a prosperous future. Fuck this is like breaking up with an abusive husband.

    9. The US is literally throwing a hissy fit whenever we use non-US weapons. They’re not saying they don’t want Europe to depend on the US, they want Europe to be dependent on the US and pay a subscription fee.

He’s a typical schoolyard bully, just one with far too much power.

    11. QuirkyWish3081 on

Tbf, this is like the first comments JD Vance has made where I kind of agree witha good portion of jt

    12. HolyFreakingXmasCake on

Cool. That means we get to make our own weapons and security agreements…?

No, not like that? Then screw you, Vance.

    13. I mean yes, true. But it’s absolutely baffling how the current US administration is basically being their own country’s biggest enemy.

    14. Europe should turn away from US billionaires and their “big tech” and build its own. European alternatives for Apple, Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Nvidia… I know we do not have them. But we need to start supporting EU alternatives for these and make sure in couple of years we are supporting European Bit Tech companies. Same for weapons. Buy in Europe.

    15. Brathirn on

They are right, that Europe indeed engaged in freeloading and took a blasé moral position. In return the USA dragged us into some silly private wars of theirs, or at least some of those.

The ideal common strategy would be for Europe to stop the freeloading and the USA stopping to engage in silly conflicts like not musing about invading Canada or Greenland.

To defend democracy, freedom and the rule of law, the complete West is needed united. The teamleader makes a special commitment and in turn gets the privilege of leading. Those two only go together.

    16. Substantial_Spread23 on

So. We should be independant check

      *produces own weapons

US No buy our weapons damnit!

    17. Listen, you imbecile! We never wanted to be US vassals, but that was part of the deal of Pax Americana that you forced on the western world after the Second World War! Why don’t you try opening a history book!!!

    18. tree_boom on

It honestly amazes me that the US has spent 65 years doing it’s best to make sure that Europe remains a security vassal and now this Administration has thrown that all away in the space of a few months lol.

A disentanglement is an inevitability at this point, so he’ll get his wish.

    19. DvD_Anarchist on

I agree, then we will manufacture our own weapons. Don’t complain when we don’t buy American

    20. Not_Cleaver on

This is technically correct, the best kind of correct. Europe would be much stronger when it doesn’t rely on the U.S. for security. And these past 100 days has proven that we are an unreliable security partner.

But, it is also correct that that the U.S. shouldn’t support nor repeat Russian propaganda/talking points. Nor should the U.S. denigrate its allies repeatedly.

    21. uniklyqualifd on

The US decided to be armed to the teeth.

For a long time they decided to make a ridiculous amount of weapons, spending more money than the next ten countries combined.

    22. SlowFreddy on

Europe needs to arm Europe with European weapons made by European industries.

    23. schmeckfest on

The EU should declare MAGA a terrorist organization siding with Putin.

    24. Square-Blacksmith988 on

Correct. We in Europe as Home of democracy should be able to defend it without help of fascists countries.

    25. schtickshift on

He is right. Europe has a bigger population than the USA. It is closer to hostile countries. It has the world’s biggest collection of democracies and is the source of the western lifestyle that most people across the world want to be part of. Of court should be able to independently protect itself and its values. Right now it cannot do that. WW2 ended 80 years ago. It’s time to get over it.
