Millionaire doesn’t mean they live in Cyprus or that they have 1 million in cash under their bed. I think it’s about right that 81000 people have total property worth over a million.
Cyprus is a known tax heaven, though 81000 seems a bit high for the island. Possibly some of those people have this 60-day residency in which they claim to be tax residents in Cyprus but actually live elsewhere.
If your yiayia has an old dilapidated house in some ‘river’ village in Germasoya, she is counted as millonare.
