I’m ignorant but why would a country from north america join the eu?

    2. 1DarkStarryNight on

      Not happening, chief.

Then again, I reckon it’s still more likely than Turkey joining.

As a Canadian, I would vote against joining the EU. Respectfully, I just want to be your friends, not to sacrifice any dominion to you.

It’s never going to happen of course, but it would honestly be so funny. The UK leaving the EU only for Canada to join.

I doubt they will be that lucky with fascists already drooling over their resources

Please god let this happen because it would be so fucking funny

I would move to Toronto in a heartbeat if it happened.

Well, then we need to think about the definition about the EU again. The European Union. Is it a union only between European countries or is it a union merely formed on European soil, open for anyone who wants to join. If the latter, then yes, very possible.

Why “joining”? I don’t pretty much know how the European Union works, but aren’t there “Associate Countries”? In Panama we have an association with many markets, including South American and we are not in that region.

Nothing against Canada, but no! EU membership is not there to annoy the USA. Besides, there wouldn’t be a majority in Canada for joining the EU. Canada is also too closely tied to the USA, and we certainly don’t want the USA in the EU, not even through a Canadian backdoor. Additionally, Canada is currently actively bringing a potential threat to the EU, and no one can rule out that the USA might start an invasion. That would directly drag the EU into the conflict. So sorry, no! Canada is the 51st state, they just don’t know it yet.

Canada truly should join the EU. It would signal their hard break from the US and they would likely gain favorable status and terms. Selling oil to China was brilliant. The exaggerated US military protection scam is a fraud and isn’t worth the effort or having to smell & listen to Trump’s roiling bowels.

Canada cannot legally join the EU due to geographic and political reasons, but it has a strong economic relationship through agreements like CETA. This relationship is primarily economic and does not include potential EU membership.
