Quoting myself from another Thread just few mins ago, since I’d be curious to hear some perspectives on this take, and think it fits this thread even better.

The Eu just created a law that allowed Europe to take 5% of all of Qatars Energy profits every year, forever. Simply for human rights abuses and climate abuses. Most of the world can be subject to that law. No one is going to trust the EU long term over the US when the Europeans are doing shit like that.
Sure there will be people looking to make a couple dollars through Europe in the short term, but no one is going to dump the US forever, for Europe.
Once the uncertainty dies down, the American markets will rally, and capital will come flowing back. It is much safer for people to park their money in the US, when Trump isn’t president. There would never, EVER be that kind of law passed it the US.

The roster of nations looking to talk earlier in the article seems weaker than it should be. Something has to happen with the Mercosur deal, that should be a stepping stone to a big win. Von der Leyen talking to Xi is pretty big. China likes high level talks but only if things are organized properly beforehand and there are no surprises on what is to be discussed. So that is another shot at a big deal that could shore up both sides as the US presses for aggressive deals.

Note the difference in language and wording:
EU – vdL ‘People are lining up’
US – Trump ‘People are kissing my ass to make deals’

Is the EU goal to replace the USA by becoming the top importer in the world? I hope not. I hope the “deals” are reciprocal and mutually beneficial.
Only time will tell.

This one sided trade war is a blessing in disguise for Europe…who would have thought America could be that stupid, destroying the strongest economy in the world…
