Sono appena tornato da un (meraviglioso!) viaggio in Slovenia e ho notato che ci sono decalcomanie con sagome di uccelli su molte architetture pubbliche in vetro – lungo le autostrade, su alcune finestre, persino alla fermata dell’autobus all’aeroporto. Li ho visti negli Stati Uniti come una strategia per ridurre la collisione degli uccelli con il vetro. E’ a questo che servono qui? Esiste un programma o un requisito governativo per applicare le decalcomanie? Qualsiasi informazione sarebbe apprezzata!

It’s to prevent birds, as you’ve put it, colliding with the walls. That’s all there’s to it. I don’t think there’s a law that governs this kind of stuff, people and/or companies just do this because it’s effective.
Funny thing though, all these years all my raspberries and blueberries have been eaten by birds in my garden and I just couldn’t be arsed to put some kind of cloth or something over them. It’d also be tricky to cover whole raspberry bush as it gets quite big.
However! I bought a big crow decoy on a stick and put it next to my berry bushes in my garden. No birds in sight! They all seem terrified of it, ha!
Yeah, that’s what they’re there for – to minimize the number of bird collisions. As for the regulations concerning them – no idea.
No laws, just enough awareness in engineering circles it seems.
