We’re now seeing the fall out of the gutting of the SNA programme that has been happening over the past few months. So many kids have lost their SNA access, kids who were getting by with shared access in the first place. As a parent of two special needs kids I know for certain my kids would never have attended school without their SNAs, and it was full access in the early days. SNAs have have been the heart and soul of school for us. It is a dark time for families sending their little ones into a mainstream setting, with their letter of recommendation, hoping the SENO grants even some access hours, and that the school has resources. And I hope the SNAs who have been recently been made redundant are redeployed and can continue to help kids and families in their communities, we need them now more than ever.
